Since our military is all powerful. And you have no idea how the balloon was communicating or what was or was not done to stop it. I wonder if your post would be the same if this was four years ago?

Yes. Our military has jamming capabilities. And, yes. I would have posted the same if this was four years ago. I can separate the military leadership from their Commander in Chief. And, you have no idea what else that thing might be carrying besides electronics. Are you okay with it spreading some sort of pathogen over a wide swath of whatever state it's over when you shoot it down? And, who cares where all that shrapnel lands. As long as it's not on you, your family, and your property, it's fine, right?

But, yes. That sucker could have been packing anything. We'll have no way of knowing until we retrieve it, which it looks like they'll be able to do. The video I saw was showing that they managed not to obliterate it when they shot it down. They ought to be able to grab it when it hits the water.

Just pointing out the possibility. None of us know for sure what that thing was carrying. The assumption is that it was a spy balloon.

Odd that you are certain the poster you're replying to has "no idea how the balloon was communicating or what was or was not done to stop it."

You, however, know to a certainty that it is too late as the Chinese already have possession of all the secrets.

Odd how that works.

down on us right now. They put 4 new spy satellites up last year alone. Step outside and if they want they could zoom down and see you.

The US needs to know as much as they can about what it was used for, as well has how to prevent such recurrences.

Maybe drop a net from above and haul it down.

But I also wonder if it has a self destruct mechanism, which must be a concern.
Still, I think we should try to capture it.
