Some people are going to have a bad ending when it comes to the secret documents investigation.

A Trump aide down loading White House documents, classified documents on to a thumb drive.????? Are you kidding me. I am not an expert on the law, but I think it's fair to say many serious laws were broken.

In my opinion the secret document investigation is bigger than we can imagine. The entire intelligence community must be in a state of High Alert. The FBI must be working over time trying to trace everything, everyone connected to the documents. What a mess.

In the end some people are going to pay a big price.

Yeah, I know, digital footprint. But it can be broken in 10 places and the info can be on the other side of the world on a plane overnight. I wonder if the intelligence community is reticent because this is not likely to be a successful operation. They don't know, the trail is broken and cold, the damage can't be 100% known, and will become evident only over time as other parties reveal certain aspects.

Simply because there are too many. The information about Pearl Harbor was in some files unread b/c they hadn't been gotten to yet. There was very credible information about the 9/11 attack that hadn't been gotten to yet.

Based on history alone I believe the FBI and the DOJ will let something horrible happen b/c they haven't cleared all the evidence in the investigative process. There is plenty of stuff to act on indictments now. There is plenty of stuff to search houses and rattle the cage so to speak.

NO MATTER HOW AIRTIGHT THE CASE IT WILL SEEM PARTISAN FOR TWO REASONS. One, republicans are going to cry and whine about partisanship because they're assholes and the press will let them spew lies. Two, republicans have committed the crime. I believe it's going to be really hard to arrest any democrats based on the evidence and certainly not enough to offset the number of republican arrests the should happen.

Wouldn't it have automatic encryption on the device it is attached to?

If the receiving machine does not have the encryption key it's not accessible unless hacked.
I would assume any and all encryption made on trump's laptop should leave behind a digital footprint that is difficult to erase.

Indict who did this now! There's no investigation needed...they know who did it, make them squeal!

The details, delay in charges, and the dance around it is appalling
This is why they are yelling "The FBI is being weaponized!"

when you wait. The longer one waits to investigate a case the harder it becomes to gather the evidence. Prosecution 101.

How long was Trump allowed to keep classified documents after the National Archives and DOJ knew that he had them?

Someone give me 1 good fucking reason why Trump was treated with kid gloves, for fucks sake DOJ practically begged Trump to please give the documents back.

Trump has documents that involved sources and methods, what does that mean? That means that there is a good chance that our foreign agents were outed and killed. Trump had nuclear military-related documents.

DOJ had to wait to build a case, bullshit, people most likely died.

Fucking Jared Kushner couldn't get a security clearance so Trump just gave him one and he was privy to all our top secrets and no one did a thing to try to stop that.

Oh yeah and most importantly, DOJ can't appear to be partisan because Trump and the Magats will get mad.

Sat Feb 11, 2023, 10:17 AM

Trump returned 26 boxes of documents right away to the Archives. They learned he did not return everything. They contacted DOJ. A grand jury was put in place to investigate. The grand jury issued a subpoena. Once again Trump handed over documents. Once again he lied. Garland then presented his evidence to a judge in order to get a warrant.

They raided Trumps resort and caught him red handed with secret documents. This was the first time in history an ex-presidents home was raided by an AG/FBI. That is a big fucking deal. Now we are learning documents are still being found, laptops are involved. The investigation continues. You want things to go the way you want them to happen or think should happen. It doesn't work that way.

By the way, did you see Adam Schiff on MNSBC last night. He has been complaining about Garland from the beginning. Last night he changed his tune. He said he believes the J6 investigation is near the end because Pence was subpoenaed. He believed Garland wasn't doing nothing or enough and now all of the sudden he thinks Garland is near the end. This is proof Schiff, like everyone else. has been guessing what Garland has been doing or is doing.

No one fully knows what has been going on in the investigations. It's all educated guesses.

which was wrong, and then I stopped reading. There was no grand jury used to get the search warrant. The FBI went to a judge and showed him probable cause.

I guarantee this, if Trump had copied all of the documents and then returned them all, DOJ would have done nothing. I fucking guarantee that.
I have never bashed Merrick Garland, he is a decent, honest man who would have made a fine SC justice. His actions and inactions are what I criticize. He has a record that can be judged. His waiting a year or more before going after Trump and his inner circle, his pyramid strategy, have been huge mistakes.

I have no problem with the investigations now that Jack Smith is in charge because we all know that Smith is actually going after Trump and his inner circle.

Wasting all of that time by Garland will come back to bite him. He should have appointed Smith 2 years ago. What was the argument that people used for Garland not appointing a special counsel, remember? The argument was that appointing a special counsel would take too long to see results. Remember?

I said the grand jury issued a subpoena for the documents. Trump returned some and they knew he was lying and had more. Then Garland brought the evidence to a judge to get a warrant.

You never bashed Garland???????????????????????????????

You do understand Smith works for Garland right? Garland hired him to be the lead prosecutor. This has been and still is Garlands investigation. He is the AG.

Saying Garland should have hired Smith two years ago is just speculation, an opinion. By the way, Garland was not in office two years ago.

But, as you mention, Kushner's crimes are being put by the wayside. Yes - Trump & co. are being treated with kid gloves - the way G went after Biden shows that. There is a definite difference between the way G handles Democrats vs. Repubs. I have given him the "Building an airtight case" leeway, but there are many ways G could have cracked down at the very beginning. He should have treated this as sedition and espionage from the start, and jailed a few people. The criminals believe they will not suffer consequences, and they know they can play legal games to stall. Trump should have been hauled off and charged with espionage the second they found those classified documents. Remember how the Rosenbergs were charged?

Garland needs to act. Period. While I applaud his thoroughness, the criminals are laughing at him and slipping away. His inaction encourages them to further defy the law and sell information. Jail the criminals, interrogate them and hold them for flight risk, until trial. There is more than enough proof here..

You betcha, because the PAC was the way to launder money for secret documents. Which were sold from that laptop. My theory.

Also my unproven theory: if Trump is indicted/convicted somewhere along this road, he will get pardoned. Either by the Republican who wins in 2024, or if Biden wins in 2024, I could see a New Years pardon for Trump from him in 2029 before he finishes his second term.

But I honestly have extremely little faith that Mr. Garland and DOJ are going to indict Teflon Man. I've felt that since the day he was appointed as AG. He may be methodical, but he's far too passive, and as gets stated on a daily basis, there has been more than enough evidence for some time now, of Teflon Man's crimes, to issue indictments on at least some of the potential charges.

With Primaries a year away, he's running out of race track, and Teflon Man knows and is counting on that fact. Moving the goal posts from Summer 2022 to Fall 2022 to Winter 2023 to Spring 2023 and so on and so on, indicates to me that there is no desire to conclude the investigation and INDICT the mother fucker.

Not just for the documents, but for all of Trump’s crimes.

The Trump PAC staffer who owns the laptop was also Trump’s personal WH Secretary for a time. If it’s the same laptop she used in WH, think of the notes that could be on there, including, but not limited to, the missing call and visitor logs in the weeks leading up to January 6.

That laptop could be one of the most significant pieces of evidence seized yet.

I’m guessing that staffer (Ms. Chamberlin?) doesn’t want to go to prison either…and scanning the hard copies of the documents shows some pretty clear intent- was she following orders?

She should have a talk with Cassidy Hutchinson about lawyers…
