They were gonna steal it.
Consider the following:
Pre-election, a huge concerted effort of M$M, especially Faux News, to paint this as a neck and neck race, despite math guys like Nate Silver, et al. Rasmussen's numbers are shameful now in retrospect.
Were they all just delusional?
Rove's awkwardness on Election night, rambling on about the Ohio count - 'refreshing' the page waiting for different results. Weird.
Did Rove really think Romney had a change at that point??
Romney's website that went up Wednesday and these fire works we're hearing about today because he planned a win.
Or did he really think he was gonna win??
Perhaps the voter turnout just proved too high for them to steal it?

(14,255 posts)I don't think they counted on the turnout.
I don't think they counted on the massive coordination of Dem poll watchers and lawyers and phone networks.
And I don't think they quite get that "sharing stuff over the internet tubes" thing, either.
After all, when you can fool most of your base all of the time with Faux and Beck and Limbaugh and Palin, etc.,
you probably never think of the opposition as being fact-checkers and fact sharers and people who take action in addition to just posting about it.
Rove was absolutely waiting for news that never came.

(13,685 posts)He knew the election could be easily stolen. So he and his people set out to make sure it was a clean, fair and free election.
This time, Obama and maybe even anonymous, kept the election from being manipulated. Tin foil looks good on you.
graham4anything
(11,464 posts)anonymous had NOTHING to do with anything but the illegalities he does. He is worse than Rove
certainly NOT a person to look up to.
(nor Julian, nor Bradley).
they are anarchists. This isn't a hollywood movie like V was. FICTION
ZERO credit goes to them
100% credit goes to the community activists starting in Chicago.

(13,685 posts)You think the E-voting machines that Rove bought were bought just for fun?
Obama knows about the E-voting machines and he made sure the impact this time would be negligible. Obama won even tho fewer people voted for him this time.
2008:
Winner 69.5 million Loser 60 million
2012:
Winner 61 million Loser 58.4 million
(results as of 11/7 plus 1%)
graham4anything
(11,464 posts)millions of votes have not been counted yet (and in some states like NJ, they are not coming in til Friday due to hurricane sandy
You do know a storm was out there don't you?
Rove is a bushie.
He works and gave his soul to the Bush's.
Jeb is running in 2016. Come back then.
Rove didn't want Mitt/Glove to win
in fact, he wanted and needed them to lose so Jeb can run
but Obama is one of the 4 best presidents of all time and won on his own
there was no theft.
what there was was Jim and Juan Crow attempts to subpress the vote.
but it dindn't work.
Obama won anyhow.
and Hillary will defeat Jeb in 2016.
Obama won with the single greatest ground game ever.
Focus on the good
not on the loser who is now forgotten and will not be remembered by anyone 50 years from now
while Obama is immortal and shall never be forgotten

(11,213 posts)I have been a part of the OFA ground game in both '08 and '12 and I agree it is an excellent ground game - best I've work for. But, that does not mean they were not also planning to steal it.
graham4anything
(11,464 posts)both sides said the other stole
Nixon lost, guess he didn't steal enough.
stealing is highly overrated
and in 2000 it was Ralph Nader that stole the vote.
forget Florida
without Nader Gore won NH
I'll blame him because people (not me) trusted him mistakenly
2010 dems stayed home and lost
2012 they came out
it's like throwing a game in baseball
you can drop the ball
you can run slow, etc.
but you can't guarantee you will hit a home run so it's only possible to cheat and lose
you can't cheat and win
graham4anything
(11,464 posts)Obama never lost the lead
He won.
no theft.
can't we just accept the fact that Obama won?
this ain't 2000.

(1,370 posts)And to the OP: YES they were that delusional.
Supporting evidence?
1) They actually believe that the corporate media is liberal.
2) They are now telling themselves that what they really needed was a more conservative candidate.

(32,822 posts)Full disclosure: I grew up in an authoritarian household.
In order for their world-bubble to continue, Romney had already won in the future. Hence, it made perfect sense to spend the money to have the website ready and buy a fireworks exhibit (wonder how much of their deposit they got back?). The key to everything was Ohio, hence Rove's meltdown - he literally did think the numbers would magically change.
These are not rational, causal-based people. If anything, they deal in reverse causality. Romney has already won the election, so we need to change the worldview/time-continuum so that he wins.
Emit
(11,213 posts)You'd think he'd not be so delusional - I mean he is more of an architect and I think has a grasp of reality based community versus the illusions they create.

(2,140 posts)They were confident it was in the bag,as evidenced by their abandonment of any pretension of good intentions for the masses and by the brazen,in your face lying....They were confident it was locked up,for them right up to the last minute, and then a bit beyond that......With all the hundreds of millions spent on bribes and misinformation/outright lies, how could it NOT be in the bag.....Yep..They were planning to steal it and they'll try it AGAIN!!!

Does anyone know when that was released?

(20,998 posts)Several things got in the way:
- The shear amount of Democratic voters that not only turned out, but would NOT be turned away;
- The amount of GOOD POLLING DATA - gone are the days when Rove & Friends could create their own polling data and then shove it down everyone's throat. Let's face it: Sam Wang and Nate Silver ROCK! Their data is outstanding and their conclusions are pretty damned near flawless. Anyone trying to steal this election would surely have to be able to stand in a court of law and own their results. Which brings me to....
- Neither Rove or any of his sycophants control the the Justice Department. This isn't a Rove-friendly presidential administration; and finally
- The amount of world-wide publicity and eyes on this election guarantee that anything out of the ordinary would be highlighted. Already Husted and Scott have much to answer for.

(3,650 posts)They want Jeb in there in 2016, so a Romney win was inimical to their interests. They called in favors from Christie and Condy - who also had personal motivations.
They promised the vote flips, etc., then didn't come through.
Rove was either kept out of the loop, or did a superlative acting job.
I don't really believe any of that - but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

(13,685 posts)The idea that elections can be altered at the whim of a few is what is killing our country.
Until we can all believe that we have free and fair elections our country will stay with one foot in the grave.

(9,459 posts)Don't forget the secret experimental software that was installed at the last moment in Ohio. I don't think they thought they would get caught on that one. It needs an investigation. After all, it was put in place by the Republicans.
And to just forget about this since Obama won is naive because in four more years there will be another presidential election. I can't believe the people wandering around here in La La Land and saying, "it's time to move along, nothing to see here." History will repeat itself if nothing is done to prevent it. Wake up!

Cheated at the debates, cheated and lied about sizes of crowds, lied about any and everything, had cheating and lying pollsters creating bs, cheated and lied his way through Bain Capital, Vietnam War, his governorship in Mass., voter fraud, lied and cheat as capt. of the 2000 Olympics, lying liar lied throughout his life, had his band of merry men lying and cheating voter registrations - all this throughout his life and his campaign. For God's sakes he put his dog on the roof of the car!!!

(39,319 posts)that the information about the experimental patches came from Wikileaks.
Does anyone know the relationship between Wikileaks and Anonymous? The video came out at the same time that freepress.org got the contract that told the story about the patches.

(5,198 posts)We cannot put it off until 2016, or think that the next round is going to just get better on it's own. When corruption is ignored or denied, it gets STRONGER. The whole RW has gone barking mad.
I do not trust the numbers, or many of the polls, and I believe that if someone somehow could count all of the stolen or denied votes--President Obama would have won with even a wider margin. Nobody was stealing Republican votes.
We need to nationalize the elections and standardize the whole system with a paper trail.
This was fucking scary, people! I agree Emit--these people planned on stealing it, Mitt even had to write his speech at the last minute?
Peace~~Felix
