On March 13, 2020, 16 young Montanans filed a constitutional climate lawsuit against the state of Montana two days before COVID-19 started shutting down the United States. Held et al v. Montana is now the nation's first-ever youth constitutional climate case set to go to trial.
This is our nations first ever youth climate lawsuit. I dont know what will happen but I am hopeful. I have a 17 year old kiddo I work every single day to model hope for him. Our kids are losing hope for their future and I lose sleep over this fact.

(86,610 posts)The magats are trying to destroy the state supreme court.
I hope they get amicus briefs from strong entities. I heard about this when it was filed but forgot about it for obvious reasons.
Good luck to them on this case and beyond.

(23,314 posts)I, too, remember when this case was first filed. I dont recall that this wouldve been the first youth case in the United States. However, the cynical side of me feels like I know what will happen But my deep hope is that this might be a turning point.

(24,731 posts)my Montana friends!
My daughter works with a youth empowerment nonprofit in Bozeman and there's a lot of depression and anxiety among her kids.
Understandable and heartbreaking.
Society has failed them!

(23,314 posts)The depression and anxiety I see in my kiddo and his peers is staggering and yet, they persist. They do .they have good days and days that would slay any of us. We can support these young people and we should.
