It is time for Garland to answer questions about all the investigations. I am glad Garland does his work quietly. However, it is time for him to calm everyone down. The entire country is on edge about the investigations. Despair, frustration has set in. Nobody knows what the hell is going on which leads to conspiracy theories, misinformation, fairy tales, prosecutors appearing on TV offering different opinions, news hosts complaining about Garland, the investigations.
In a recent post I suggested at some point Garland and possibly Biden would start to come under political pressure about the investigations. You can't remain silent forever. You have to answer questions at some point. There is too much at stake. Garland needs to assure the nation justice will be served. People will be held accountable. It is up to Garland to defend his investigations.

(9,385 posts)There will be gotcha questions and on-camera theater of outrage from both sides of the aisle. The same conspiracy theorists, misinformation peddlers, TV prosecutors, news hosts, etc., will not stop complaining about Garland: outrage and drama fuels their narrative, and this is what gets them publicity, ratings, clicks, and eventually pays their bills. Only this time they will have new and no doubt skillfully edited footage to fuel their theatrics.
It will make for an entertaining news cycle, but it will be a disaster for the future of the investigationsand prosecutions. The only consequential outcome from these hearing I can envision is impending complaints of tainted juries and legal challenges galore.

(14,814 posts)It would be wong/inapropriate to comment on ongoing envestigations. He can't say indictments are or aren't coming. He can't give any specifics that haven't already been disclosed in court documents.
He can't answer the questions we all want to hear.
He can talk in generalities with no specific substance.
It will be nothing to behold. But I'm sure media will hear what they want. They have been doing it for two+ years so why stop now.

Because that is such an impotent and infantile bit of piddle.
Don't you agree?

(14,814 posts)Since it is entirely acceptable within the law to not indict somebody, after careful consideration of the evidence, making that statement doesn't mean a thing wrt to indictments of any particular person.
If prosecutors decide not bring charges, it doesn't violate the nobody is above the law phrase.
It is a diplomatic turn of the language. You can read into it what you want.
