Gone with the Wind as the house maid and she was not allowed into the regular room with everyone. When she won they brought her in from outside.

People can be so mean.

Hattie McDaniel is her name.

As late as 1948, if you were black, the county's first aid unit, one of the first EMT units in the US, would not transport you to the county hospital. If you were black.
I guess it explains Indiana today a little better.

Getting left at the side of the road. I was told they would call a funeral home whose hearse would take you to the hospital, I suppose if you were still alive.

were wrong.

She came to the White House after Obama lauded Owens’ descendants for no reason apparently.

Sarah Fling came to the White House Historical Association in 2019 as a graduate public history fellow before joining as a historian in 2021. She received her bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Pittsburgh and her master’s degree in Public History from American University. Sarah specializes in material culture and nineteenth-century women’s history.

that's the White House Historical Association.

You're just attaching the messenger. Yes it is possible in the universe that Obama could be mistaken, USA today surely could be.

The answer is in the WH historical archives, if anyone can find a fete where FDR had the white Olympic Athletes there.

Maybe he had none because he did not want to have black ones. I think he would be more likely to have done that rather than have one just for white athletes.
