1. Well even the reptiles um conservatives get to have their say.

I don't agree with anything they say. I probably won't fight for their right to say it, but I won't stand in their way either. Some people just look stupid, others like these guys have to open their mouths to prove it. As uncomfortable and maddening as this is, in the end it is better for our cause(s), to have them out and vocal so people can see first hand what we are talking about. I prefer to know what is on their minds rather than all the hush hush crap that they codify into law making it seem like everything is all fair fine and dandy yet, the ptb still manages to incarcerate minorities in far greater numbers than white people. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sorry to ramble.

I lived through the era of the civil rights movement.

I was very young, but I was aware of it, and I sometimes encountered adults who opened their mouths and proved themselves to be every bit as stupid as the people in that picture. Even at that age their statements made no sense to me.

Gay people are extremely wary when politicians talk about dissolving legal gay marriages in states that allow them. If they can dissolve one marriage, they can dissolve another. It wasn't so long ago that marriage between different races was deemed "unnatural" and "un-Christian".

It all comes down to interpreting what conservatives are really saying, because it never stops at what you think you just heard. It's like abortion. First it's abortion, then it's birth control.

There are some who will not stop until this nation is turned into an evangelical Christian, patriarchal theocracy. They will do anything to achieve that, not even recognizing that a fundamentalist, patriarchal theocracy is exactly what they claim to detest about Islamic countries. Personally, I think many of them envy that society, since they think they are the ones to have favored status were that to come about. Oh little do they know...
