As reported by the daily beast and MSNBC
The chatter over DeSantis public engagement has also surfaced past unflattering stories about his social skillsparticularly, his propensity to devour food during meetings.
He would sit in meetings and eat in front of people, a former DeSantis staffer told The Daily Beast, always like a starving animal who has never eaten before
getting shit everywhere.
Enshrined in DeSantis lore is an episode from four years ago: During a private plane trip from Tallahassee to Washington, D.C., in March of 2019, DeSantis enjoyed a chocolate pudding dessertby eating it with three of his fingers, according to two sources familiar with the incident.
A representative for DeSantis political team did not return a request for comment on it.

(35,454 posts)Actually this, in a way, makes me think he can't be elected to higher office. THe article also points out that he is a loner and cannot work a room that his socialization skills are nil. This was apoint made by C. Christie this morning.
After all. eating salad with a comb helped to do in Klobuchar's campaign.

(71 posts)It is okay to eat food with your fingers if you are in a country where this is customary. This is not one of those countries. Eating pudding with his fingers will endeared DeSantis to the uncouth MAGAs

Who will they take up next?

(11,303 posts)I'm still kind of rooting for the nastiest piece of work available (with a lot of blood and knives leading up to the finish) - for the obvious reasons.
But - let's hear more about what a loathsome human being he and all the rest of the pack are!

I don't worry that the MAGAs won't have other scary-nasty pieces of work to choose from in the primaries, or that at least a couple of them won't be vying for title of nastiest. DeSantis-the-tRump-defeater has been drawing attention away from others also positioning themselves to win the competition.
I'm more worried that their choice might be able to successfully restyle himself in the GE for Republicans who want a more respectable appearing candidate. Or alternatively that the MAGAs settle on another charismatic populist strongman who, like tRump, could snort pudding to cheering crowds while smashing the nation for them.

(11,303 posts)is the one that really worries me.
I do think that a 'populist' might actually have to have an agenda or platform of some sort this time around. But I could well be mistaken. Perhaps 'woke', drag story time, and transgender therapy is enough ...
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)with MUCH better, MUCH cheaper national healthcare; that worked great with RW and LW populist voters alike.
Really, I think you're right, though. For Repub voters who want substance, candidates are likely to offer agendas of fake or very inadequate substance -- or IED-type (lots of tax "reform" going on in red states), and for MAGA barn-burners commitment to culture warring. And for all, continued promises to purge liberal government policies, along with the required swiftboating of everything Democrat.
Oh, joy.

(73,537 posts)DeSantis is not an attractive candidate in the context of a national election. Yet, one can hope he eventually attacks Trump, in response to Trump's attacking him. The more they damage one another, the better.
