Trump's Waco rally leaves El Paso officials seething

When former President Donald Trump rallies today in Waco, Texas, under a cloud of legal scandal, he'll do so after his campaign reportedly paid the central Texas city's government more than $60,000 to cover various municipal services, such as public safety costs.

But across the state, in El Paso, city officials there tell Raw Story that they're still waiting for Trump's campaign committee to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bills stemming from the former president's February 2019 visit to their border town.

"The Trump campaign has not submitted any payments for their debt," El Paso city spokesperson Laura Cruz-Acosta confirmed to Raw Story, noting that the current Trump tab is $569,204.63, including a city-issued late fee of $98,787.58.

El Paso is still trying to get Trump to pay up. In late 2020, the El Paso City Council unanimously took action to hire the Law Offices of Snapper L. Carr to "advocate in the City’s interest in the collection of the outstanding invoices," Cruz-Acosta said.

About time somebody caught on.
Trump doesn’t pay his bills. At this point that’s a given. Anyone who does business with him without getting paid first is agreeing to work for free.

I'm sure Trump thinks El Paso is a typical crime ridden, blue, Democratic sh*thole.

Sometimes I wonder why he chose it as a site for a rally. I'm sure he had a reason, because he always does.

Before TFG it was about 70-30. Now about 80-20. This includes Fort Bliss. The only problem we have with immigrants is that the great sudden influx overwhelmed us. The city reworked an unused into a shelter. It is also the safest large city in the USA. i live right on the border and love it here.

Even when the debtor is Donald J. Trump, master of stiffing anyone he owes money to and dodging lawsuits until the plaintiffs give up or drop dead?

No snark intended; just making the point that trying to get Trump to pay a bill is not like trying to get a normal human to do it.

P.S. Forgot to say I do agree that a new lawyer probably wouldn't be a bad idea!

When you're dealing with TFG, you're always stuck with the bill. He even stiffed his own casino in Atlantic City. The lesson to be learned about TFG has been illustrated by some of his legal representatives: get it in cash and get it up front! Never accept rubber checks or three card monte schemes from a career deadbeat.

Which no doubt muddied the waters. It was clearly a campaign rally, but a city will have to help provide security for a presidential visit.

Wouldn't that normally be the thing to do?

But to go deeper, isn't fraud - since he clearly didn't intend to pay and has the funds to pay - illegal? Like, shouldn't law enforcement be involved somehow?

It's like we have two legal systems in the USA sometimes...

TFG is a deadbeat

https://www.texastribune.org/2019/08/05/donald-trump-campaign-el-paso-shooting/

President Donald Trump publicly pledged “all the support of the federal government” on Saturday after 22 people were shot to death in an El Paso Walmart this weekend.

But his statements are prompting charges of hypocrisy because the city claims the president’s political campaign owes an outstanding debt from a February campaign rally — specifically, more than half a million dollars.

On Monday, an El Paso city official said Trump has yet to pay.

According to Laura Cruz-Acosta, communications manager for the El Paso city manager’s office, the president has an outstanding bill of $569,204.63 for police and public safety services associated with a February campaign rally.

“The city staff have followed the process and procedures as it relates to any invoicing that we provide, and we will continue to do so accordingly as per city and state policies,” Cruz-Acosta said. She said that Trump owed an initial fee of $470,417.05 but that the city tacked on a 21% one-time late fee in June — 30 days after the campaign failed to pay the initial amount owed.

court decision that El Paso can't sue to get its money back.

Barring something like that, though, I would love too see El Paso sue and take as settlement that golf course slobby buried his wife in.

Of course, there's always Trump Tower that they can rename "Loser Arms" but every bit of real estate he owns is undoubtedly tied up in mortgages and partners.
