The Rupert Murdoch-owned New York Post wrote a scathing editorial on Friday about Donald Trump, with a cover headline that calls the former president "deranged" and "bat hit crazy."
The editorial centers on Trump's past behavior and reaction to the current real possibility of indictment in the criminal case he's facing in New York related to hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels, with Trump warning of "death and destruction" should that happen.
"He hasn't changed in the slightest. There is no shame," the editorial board wrote. "After riling up rioters, cheering for a coup, and agreeing that his vice president needed to be hanged, he's back to making violent threats against fellow Americans. This is not a felony case, and Bragg trying to turn it into one is pure politics. But rather than seek his vindication in the courtroom, or even just make an impassioned speech, Trump wants to inspire a mob."
"As some of his allies are trying to rewrite January 6 as an afternoon stroll, Donald Trump is having none of it. In the face of a possible criminal case in New York, he screamed that "death and destruction" would follow any indictment," the article says. "He posed with a baseball bat aimed at the head of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. THIS is Donald Trump."

(2,841 posts)That is a much larger media enterprise, was the coverage of TFG on there negative this weekend? I doubt it. My wife think Mr Murdoch is just playing it out if both sides of his mouth.

(70,740 posts)Besides that MURDOCH is probably too preoccupied with his latest new wife, it's doubtful that he seldom if ever micro-manages everything that appears in his products.
And article headlines are written by headline writers, not (usually?) by the authors of the articles (I will surely be corrected).
*** And while I fully support DU rules, such as the one not linking to wingnut sources (not talking about this O.P.), there ought to be a distinction between when the content in the link is NOT wingnut content even while featured in the wingnut source, and also when the wingnut content is cited for the purpose of refuting it. I ended up looking at the NY Post site years ago because of two things: That Regis PHILBIN loved to refer to the Sally BROMPTON horoscope and because of back then Page Six with Richard JOHNSON, Liz SMITH, Cindy ADAMS - yes, despite that The-Oldest-Person-Named-"Cindy" was/is a raging wingnut. Liz often said she was the only Lib there. Because the much despised "gossip" in those old/real REPORTERS often broke nuggets long before the regular news.
Iow, there is sometimes "regular" content in some of the worst sources. Repeating, am not talking about the MSN link in the O.P. Just saying that the link's headline is misleading, am saying RUPERT didn't write the NYP's editorial, despite that there is other reporting about his break-up with Drumpf.
