I've never seen any pics of the gallows being erected on the Capitol grounds on J6.
I just can't believe that there were no photographers on the scene taking pictures of that happening. It always puzzled me as to why we've never seen pics.
Somebody had to be carrying lumber, hammers and nails to the Capitol grounds to build it. Somebody had to be supervising the building of the structure and a number of people working on the building of it.
Did I just miss seeing such pics or were none made available to us to see?

(25,263 posts)I'd like to see pics of the gallows being erected and the people that built it.
It seems to me that such pictures of those people might be very telling. Who they were?
Were they members of any organized group? Were they identified and are they in jail now?
Also why would they not have been stopped by capitol police from putting it up?

(32,703 posts)The photo of the gallows was displayed on DU on or after January 6, 2021 but I have always contended that this wasn't intended to be a real gallows. It would have collapsed whenever they attempted to actually hang anybody on it. It was a replica for the scare effect, that's all.

I'd like to know more details about how they came to be and who commissioned the building of - and who built them.

(23,362 posts)Being a former Boy Scout, I know a thing or two about knots. That is not a hangman's noose. It's a loop of red rope. Then, someone wound some more red rope around a beer can to attempt to simulate the coils of a real knot. The shiny beer can is visible in other photo angles.
And yes, the carpantry looks fragile and unstable.
It would be deemed unsafe as a stage prop

(11,052 posts)Like the Iraq War protesters hanging Dubya in effigy.
It's ugly and it grabs attention (and it made for a great press photo on 1/6), but they could not have hanged anyone with that.

It was not intended to actually hang someone.
Like everything else that day, it was just stupid and childish.

(25,263 posts)after they were built in the height of the insurrection?
Was this person identified? Is he in jail now?
There's a story behind these gallows and I'd like to know what that story is?

(23,362 posts)Maybe littering?

(25,263 posts)I don't know that its a law - but I'm sure that someone would be ticketed for putting it up.
Trespassing maybe?
Climbing on it is not breaking a law. But what about participation in an insurrection?
JustABozoOnThisBus
(23,362 posts)Building it, and climbing on it, seems to be part of a demonstration. Going into the Capitol building, breaking things, stealing things threatening people, that's participation in insurrection; that's who should get time behind bars.

(129,279 posts)which credited New Yorker (magazine). I recently decided to go on and sub to it since I have popped on and off the site for years reading interesting articles and I did a search and found the article that has an embedded video where the still came from - https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-bidens-washington/what-we-learned-about-trump-pence-and-the-january-6th-mob
The video is about halfway down the page and the short clip where that still came from, starts at 1.05.
It seems like the thing was already up by the time the guy in the clip was gingerly standing on the platform and it looks like he was possibly trying to move the noose out of the way because he had something that possibly looked like small binoculars in his right hand. At that point, whoever was filming, pans away.
But for the first time, I actually found a couple images taken from different angles that I hadn't seen before that someone had tweeted on that day -

The 2nd pic appears to have a poster sign near the bottom that says "THIS IS ART".
I am guessing it was mostly pre-assembled with the braces loosely attached on single posts, and there were pre-drilled holes on the other posts so that the braces could swing in place and be secured with bolts using the pre-drilled holes. The main beams look like 4x8 fence posts that were cut to size.

(33,388 posts)Agreed that it looks like it was mostly pre-assembled then the parts put together quickly on site. Braces and platform frame appear to be 2x4. Stairs may be 2x6.

(38,007 posts)I did find that, there were actually three nooses among the mob that day:
Snopes:
At least one other noose was displayed during the riot involving a camera cord. At one point, a group of rioters grabbed and destroyed camera equipment...
And, according to this NBC Washington story, the noose from the gallows is in FBI custody:

(43,463 posts)and personally plant them
that is ultra dangerous covert work and potentially open treason/rebellion punishable by decades in prison or the death penalty if they go off and kill people
she is not going to take such a monstrous gamble after just gaining a foothold of true power to cause far greater mayhem from a political pulpit of chaos
come on!
plus the person in the video doesn't resemble her body build nor her gait

(43,463 posts)Sorry no pic of it being erected, but here is a discussion by the traitors amongst themselves about doing it:
New research has revealed that Jan. 6 rioters plotted to murder U.S. officials weeks before the attack
https://flux.community/adele-m-stan/2021/06/trump-fans-january-6-hang-mike-pence-gallows/
On Jan. 6, a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol chanting a chilling refrain: Hang Mike Pence! Inside the Capitol, little did the then-vice president or the lawmakers attempting to certify the Electoral College votes of the 2020 presidential election know that the apparatus for doing just that had been erected on the Capitol grounds.
The Capitol insurrection had been months in the making, with so-called Stop the Steal protests organized by far-right political operatives in state capitals and elsewhere, including six such protests in Washington, D.C., over the course of three months. Instrumental in the incitement to violence was a Dec. 19 tweet by then-President Donald Trump summoning his most ardent fans to Washington to assure his certification as winner of an election he had lost.
Investigative work by Advance Democracy Inc., a nonprofit research group, shows that the very day that Trump issued the tweet calling his supporters to the nations capital for a Jan. 6 protest, denizens of an anonymous web board called TheDonald.win got busy plotting their contribution to what Trump promised would be a wild protest on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. What could be more wild than having an apparatus of execution on the premises, fully functional and at the ready?
Within hours of Trumps Dec. 19 post, a plan was in the works among those planning a Jan. 6 trip to Washington, D.C., at the presidents behest.

(25,263 posts)a journalist with a camera - I think - would have deemed that newsworthy and take a picture of the construction or set-up.
I'm not a journalist or a news cameraman - but if I saw such a thing happening - I would have thought it was newsworthy and taken a picture of the happening.
With all the footage we have of the J6 insurrection. With just about everyone carrying a phone with a camera now - I just can't understand why we've never seen a picture of it being set-up or erected with the people that brought it to the so-called party.
