I like sure bets. I like to win elections. Is that so wrong?
So despite all the protestations here, I still hope she runs, if Joe decides not to run for some reason, or in 2028. She'll only be 64 yrs old in 2028. People change their minds, especially when duty calls. The kids love her.
As to why people keep bringing this up, the answer is in the OP.
"She'll crush it". Yes, she probably won't run, and I don't blame her, but there's no law against hope.
Yet.

(25,798 posts)Like the Michael Moore prediction that the only way a Democrat could win in 2020 was if a beloved celebrity like Oprah or Michelle Obama or Tom Hanks ran?

Besides the fact that she has no interest.

(94,971 posts)She wasnt a compelling candidate in 2020, and she has no rights to 2024 without competing with the rest of the field.

(2,574 posts)That's a good start. She has a bachelors degree from Princeton University, and a juris doctor degree from Harvard Law School. With good delegation skills, great policies can be quickly developed.
The idiot fool MAGAt king had no experience, and he was elected, because he touched the hearts and souls of fascists everywhere, despite the fact that he is clearly an ignorant, illiterate narcissistic sociopath who has almost destroyed the US.
Democrats are rightly far more concerned with a leader's prior experience than Republicans. But we like to win elections. In this day and age, mass appeal often trumps (pun intended) political experience. For POTUS, I'll take a Democrat with no experience over a Republican with 5 decades of political experience every time.
As a performer, I have seen over and over how a great charismatic front person can carry a band, and attract great musicians. It sometimes works the same in politics.
I 100% guarantee that if she ran for President in 2028, she would win, and would win a second term as well.
She'll (probably) never run, and I don't blame her. But I selfishly hope she does.
She'd crush it.

(2,574 posts)As a former performer, I have seen how the front person in a band almost always gets all the notoriety, and the glory. Her husband would be a wonderful advisor, although I'm sure he would never in a million years want her to run.

(10,850 posts)1. Joe Biden has made no indication he will not run in 2024
2. Michelle Obama has made numerous indications she is not interested in a run
3. Joe Biden has the advantage of incumbency and a solid record of accomplishments for the American people
4. Joe Biden will run in 2024 and expand his 7 million popular vote margin bc he has stabilized the country after Trump's chaos
5. Donald Trump has entered the meat grinder of US law which will not be halted for his craziness or ambitions
6. DeSantis has already proven himself to be a weak, whiney sister, not ready for prime time
7. The GOP is committing political suicide in broad daylight, something we should cheer not be afraid of
8. Crushing it is unlikely in today's politically charged climate; winning is quite sufficient
9. We should support candidates that can and will win, not fantasy or non-existent 'perfect' candidates, and finally,
10. Leave Michelle Obama alone. She's enjoying her life out of the political fishbowl. She's earned the right to be an enormously popular, private citizen.

(17,752 posts)Joe has not indicated that he is not running. Based on his record of what hes actually accomplished would be extremely lucky if he did. Secondly, Michelle Obama has said thousand ways probably 1000 times that she has no interest no desire in running for the office l.But hope on.
Roisin Ni Fiachra
(2,574 posts)So I'll be content with a second term. Joe has not announced yet, nor indicated that he is not going to run. This tells me he fully intends to run, and will announce in late summer or fall that he will run.
If he wasn't intending to run, he would have already said so, in order to give Democratic candidates for POTUS as much time as possible to construct campaigns.
No real Democrat will challenge him in the primaries; he's one of the best presidents in US history. If Republicans and certain so-called Democrats/former Democrats not obstruct his agenda, I would consider him the greatest POTUS in our history.
The man who kicked the MAGAT king's ass to the curb. Joe is a true American hero.
Just sayin', under certain circumstances, Michelle would be a shoo in if she ever ran for POTUS.
Hopefully, we can find someone that has her mass appeal in 2028.

(4,044 posts)For I cannot.
She'd have to win me over in the primaries just like any other candidate.
I like to be wooed. Primary season is the only time it happens. I'd prefer flowers, but I'll take brochures and good ideas.
