Not surveillance drones mind you, Predator Drones.
I can't wait for a response from the Mexican Government. Predator Drones have such an outstanding record along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, no doubt our neighbors will be overjoyed.
Not mention American Hispanics scared to death of the Mexican Taliban, surely they give Perry a standing ovation.
Wow.

You know these fuckers wold be happier than apple soda to murder humans with drones so long as they are brown.

(29,257 posts)Maybe he is trying to win over the segment of Obama voters that clearly support the massive increase in unmanned drone use, both foreign and domestic, that has taken place in the last 3 years.

(62,270 posts)That doesn't mean that my vote supports it.

(29,257 posts)If an Administration sends as powerful a signal with regards to their position on extralegal killing and unmanned drones controlled by secret CIA forces as the Obama Admin has, you have to be crazy to think that your vote doesn't support and encourage the continuation of it.

(62,270 posts)Many people voted for Obama ignorant of the fact that he wanted to instate targeted killing to a level never before seen. Those of us who recognized it yet voted for him anyway, because we felt that his other foreign policy decisions would be the lesser evil, are not supporters of that policy of targeted killing if we express that we don't support it.
To support a given policy arrangement you must show that you 1) agree with it and 2) do not denounce it when it happens. I have been consistently outspoken against targeted killing.
This is the whole purity test approach, where one is accused of supporting something that they don't. If you actually believe that, then you too "support and encourage the continuation of" targeted killing, as Obama will not stop it until he is contented that the threat is gone. Under your own parameters you cannot feign "no support" coming from a place of ignorance and faith as opposed to knowledge and reason.

(29,257 posts)On DU. Yes, that could be true, but you can't actually believe that means anything with regards to changing such a direct, do you?
Your last paragraph is very jumbled and poorly written. No meaning can be discerned from it at all. You must have been upset when you banged it together but there is still time to fix it.
In any case, I cannot be accused of "supporting and encouraging it" in any way. In fact, it is because I oppose such policies so strongly that I will no longer going to be financially supporting the US war empire.

(62,270 posts)My discontent in the act is far more effort than it took to check off a ballot in the voting box.
If you did not vote for Obama nor do you plan to vote for Obama, then sure, you pass your self-defined purity test.
I refuse to be boxed in to such tests, as I recognize for a lot of non-privileged people out there that it's more than just about single issues.
Though being a white straight male those single issues are all that really mean anything to me, as all the other social issues I can just laugh off, since they don't affect me.
But I'm above that.

Mitt seems to think that immigration is the one area where he has successfully staked out the most far-right position. If he wants to maintain this position, he'll have to come up with a "do-you-one-better" response to Perry.
