of our democracy, but what it boils down to is that we allowed a spoiled-rotten brat---a man-child---to seize the spotlight in our daily lives and then throw a vicious tantrum when he was pushed off stage.
He's now writhing on the floor---kicking and screaming with a very full diaper.

(22,050 posts)Our media covers him because it's such a great shit show.
But the truth is, Trump is finished. His base diminishes every day. Even man Republicans are tired of him.
Ivanka can change his diaper. America doesn't need his crap.

(2,754 posts)He just got a lot of endorsements from new Florida Republican lawmakers just as DeSantis was coming to Washington to woo them. A power move. Sure he has high negatives with wide swaths of the electorate, but he remains highly viable to become the Republican nominee and there are scenarios in which he could win. Unfortunately.

All those people saying Trump cant win in 2024 are deluding themselves. First, he is no less popular today than he was in 2020. Second, if he had gotten 50,000 more votes in three states he would be President even losing national popular vote by 5 million.
Number of people who identify as GOP is same as it was in 2008, 2012 & 2016. And GOP voters are more solidly behind Trump than they were for McCain or Romney. Spending time & money to convert GOP voters is inefficient and ineffective. Strategy should be on independent voters.
Also, the number of people who identify as gop is the same as it was in 2012 and 2008.
Also, Trumps favorable rating is a net 20 points higher today among GOP voters than it was among GOP voters in 2016 when he won the nomination.
Something to keep in mind: in latest Economist/YouGov national poll, Trump has as high a favorable rating among GOP voters as Biden has among Dem. Voters. And more GOP voters want Trump to run again, than Demo voters want Biden to run again.

(51,018 posts)that 30% of our population does not want a Democracy.
The spoiled brat just gave them permission to say that loud, and to believe their bigoted reasons for that were acceptable.

This is that.
Trump is just the tip of the firmly entrenched Nat-C Fascist Turd that is the GOP et al.
That is the problem.
Germany rightly outlawed fascism within their country. They criminalized fascism and outlawed their National Socialist Party in it's entirety.
It's way past time that the United States do the same.

(8,845 posts)he will be buried at a nearby cemetery, where he has already chosen his burial lot......
The Cemetery, in advance preparation for his demise, has surrounded the actual 2'x6' gravesite with concrete slabs as far as the eye can see, complete with area drains every 4 feet.
Biden could balance the budget, AND repay the nation's debt, by selling ten dollar tickets for "access" to his gravesite or the immediate area surrounding it......Hell, I would drop a C-Note for a ticket to have that opportunity. We all could help to give him yet another "FIRST" record: Largest golden shower ever...........

(7,146 posts)The GOP has been plotting this since the 70s. Stacking the courts, insisting on unlimited money in politics, taking over the media, destroying public education, getting the ignorant masses to vote against their own interests time and time again ... it's all part of the oligarchs' long game of taking away people's political representation and transferring as much wealth as possible to the very, very top.
