Love this photo. Tennessee 3 in the WH with POTUS and Veep

President Biden
@POTUS

After a tragic shooting in Nashville, Reps. Justin Jones, Justin Pearson, and Gloria Johnson stood up against gun violence.

Jones and Pearson were silenced and expelled by Republican legislators.

Now, they're back at work, and today we met to discuss their crucial efforts.

Let's take this as a reminder that the fascists are a minority, trying to gain control by leveraging media megaphones, including "social" media, by gerrymandering, using stooges and hit-men in robes, and by instilling fear.

THEY ARE A MINORITY, losing members every day.

So, take the positives as wind in our sails, and take the negatives as motivation never to rest. The fascists of today, like the ones in the past, rely on selfishness, race discrimination and outright lies, and these will always sway many people.

As I've said in an early post,
https://democraticunderground.com/100216524810
The best, the ONLY cure to WhiteChristianNationalism, race baiting, mysogyny, etc. is WINNING

reprinted in part here:
This is from the epilogue of "Stamped From the Beginning", by Ibram X Kendi.
Emphasis mine:

Protesting against racist power and succeeding can never be mistaken for seizing power. Any effective solution to eradicating American racism must involve Americans committed to antiracist policies seizing and maintaining power over institutions, neighborhoods, counties, states, nations—the world. It makes no sense to sit back and put the future in the hands of people committed to racist policies, or people who regularly sail with the wind of self-interest, toward racism today, toward antiracism tomorrow. An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.

Plenty of political allies visited with Trump in the White House, too. But I'm betting that many of them came away with the impression that their president was an uncouth oaf. Those who visit the White House today, meet with an aware, principled statesman. Republicans can only wish.

While it felt like an eternity, Trump only had 1 term.

The president from 2012-2016 was a pretty classy guy from all reports...

It truly gets into, and back into "the air": the mentality, emotions, reactions (in this case particularly white people), not only individuals but business, medicine, education, housing, non-profits, government at all levels, etc the full zeigeist to treat Black, and other POC as equals.

"Back into the air", because drumphf lifted the rocks, and rotted logs, and what had been more underground, or in the shadows was unleased, poisoned so much more of our country.

(I never believed we were in a "post racial" society even after President Obama's reelection. And I wasn't even here at DU yet to discuss it)

Eventually equalty it'll become as natural as breathing for almost everyone. Racism will shrink down to very, very minimal (if not gone completely) amount of people.
They - the racists will truly become the aberations for good.

Maybe, probably not at that highest level in my lifetime, but a strong flow of thought, and actions like a powerful river I hope will (re)emerge, and be sustained till it reaches that goal.

(deeply disturbing we have to fight off basic fascistic tendencies, and real policies enacted in local, and State arenas which do, and would promote all manner of degradation on the most people.)
