(14,766 posts)Fascist right-wingnuts want a public living in constant fear of something - fear of guns, fear of your brown skin neighbor, fear of losing Social Security, fear of space lasers, books, vaccines, LGBT, etc. Faux News and Limbaugh preached it 24/7 for decades. Lock your doors and keep yer guns loaded. Build fences and switch off PBS.
A divided, fearful public will slowly loose it's sense of community and brotherhood, and therefore will never organize and rise up against the corporate machine that is the backbone of the GOP. Reagan and Murdoch took the helm soon thereafter, and W used the method to entangle us in a multi-trillion dollar war.
I've been watching it happen since Nixon via Agnew rabidly preached fear of welfare (and government in general) in the South like a tent revival preacher.
Rant done, just my 2c worth.

I don't particularly think the violence is a goal in and of itself. Instead, with most GOP being sociopaths, they shrug it off and consider it the cost ofattaining power.
Who else is going to finance them? Most certainly not small donors, like with what you saw with Bernie Sanders.
They stay in power because they appeal to the basest, scummiest people and unfortunately there are plenty of them in America.

It really does seem like something out of The Onion, but it's true.

(1,690 posts)Trolling the GOP for the inane solutions they usually put forth. "Let's get a bucket of rocks." That struck me as something even the Onion couldn't come up with.

(25,355 posts)Why not just expel them as unwilling and incapable of committing themselves to the US constitution?
OK, I know that the constitution does not provide for expelling rogue states. So next best thing is to encourage them to secede and then accept it when they do.
