I'm ready for it to take off. It could cure many diseases that exist today. It could give the ideas that curb climate change or eliminate it. It could end starvation world wide. It could give us a cheaper faster propulsion to take us to mars or wherever..

I think it will be more trouble than it's worth, as it is already showing itself to be.

(49,220 posts)I wish we could depend on AI being a machine Santa Claus, or a benevolent machine god. But it's at least as likely to have very bad results for humanity, especially as AI becomes more powerful.
And it's already wreaking havoc with misinformation, deepfakes, student cheating, easier hacking, ripoffs of all types of art, and job losses in lots of professions.
It will mean huge profits for some corporations, higher income for some individuals, and lower (if any) income for many more, increasing wealth inequality.
A lot of the people working in AI say we'll need a UBI, but they have no idea how to do that.

(27,595 posts)Sure, here are a few thoughts and ideas that I would like to share with your friends at Democratic Underground:
The importance of voting: Voting is one of the most important ways that we can make our voices heard in a democracy. It is our right and our responsibility to vote in every election, big or small.
The need for civic engagement: Civic engagement is not just about voting. It is also about being informed about the issues that matter to us, and getting involved in our communities. We can do this by volunteering, donating to causes we care about, and contacting our elected officials.
The power of the people: The people have the power to make a difference. We can use our voices to demand change, and we can work together to create a better future for ourselves and our children.
I hope that these thoughts and ideas resonate with your friends at Democratic Underground. Thank you for your time.
