President Obama Asks to See Betty White's Long Form Birth Certificate - No really, he did.

President Obama Asks to See Betty White's Long Form Birth Certificate
Crooks and Liars

It's always good to have a sense of humor about things that are truly a joke at this point, and so for Betty White's 90th birthday celebration, President Obama sent her a very special message.

Here's what he wrote:

Dear Betty,

You look so fantastic and full of energy. I can't believe you're 90 years old. In fact, I don't believe it. That's why I'm writing to ask if you will be willing to produce a copy of your long form birth certificate. Thanks, and Happy Birthday, no matter how old you are.

Ah, it was truly a golden moment.

For this alone, he gets my vote in November.

My husband was delievered by midwife at home in 1936 in a small, rural town on San Antonio's outskirts. So were his sisters and his brother. They all got birth certificates by affadavit. In small towns in many places in the U.S. back then, the town postmaster would send off to the state capitol for birth certificates for home births using a form that he'd signed as a witness testifying to the birth of the child and to whom it was born. Birthers would have a field day with my husband's birth certificate. The only signatories being the midwife who delivered him, who was his aunt, and the postmaster who'd known the family for generations but wasn't present when he was born. It's strange that I'm the daughter of illegal aliens and have a "normal" long form birth certificate while my husband, whose family was among the first 100 that came in with Stephen Austin has such a suspect one by birther purists.

I had an aunt who was picked up for speeding a couple days before her 100th birthday. The officer asked if she was truly going to be 100 and she said she was. She then invited him to her birthday open house. He came!

Never write us off too soon!

I also love Betty White. OMG 90? she looks great for 90. I hope I make it that long and look that good. I still really love her from Golden Girls. Her, Bea Arthur, Rue Maclanahan and Estelle Getty. What a great troop of actors. We were so lucky to have them on Golden Girls. I still watch it because it's just so damned funny.

Laughed my ass off when I saw it. Our president has a sense of humor? I loved it. And on top of that, we're starting to recover from the Bush years. OBAMA 2012. It's almost SHOWTIME!!!

I still seriously thinking about writing in Bernie Sanders.

But that was the act of a very sweet man.

And many many joyous returns to Betty White.
