to avoid going to the hoosecow. Now obviously he didn't get the message to rove who was shell shocked when the fix didn't happen. He might have at least tried to convey it in code, something like Scooter Libby to Judith Miller:
"Hey karl, the aspens are turning. Nudge nudge, wink wink."
Oh, it is pure joy getting a bit of closure after all these years. Sadly too many criminals, too little time.

(269,063 posts)the internet has definitely changed the dynamics - M$Greedia can no longer decide what is news and what is newsworthy. On the other hand, social media has had a significant impact on the speed with which we communicate and mobilize.

(9,463 posts)the Feds (or some other law enforcement agency) should have paid me a visit. I was that nasty. I've done the same with Trump and others. I just don't give a shit anymore. I want those RWNJs eliminated from our lives. And I'm not really partial to how it's done.

(27,311 posts)which doesn't appear likely. I saw many menacing tweets that day, reminding him that he risked prison. Yeah, I think he chickened out and rove and mitt didn't know it. THAT's why they were shellshocked.

(28,784 posts)but I am hoping someone told him that if he did the fix he would be busted and, yes, he chickened out.
Of course, it could be that the Republicans were just blinded by their own hubris, but I think that someone was able to figure out how to make him afraid to carry through.
I still hope he faces charges because of the last minute changes.
Whether there was a computer fix planned or not, he had already violated a judge's orders for the voting machines in order to invalidate valid ballots.

(38,505 posts)When Karl was stammering about it being too soon too call Ohio. What would make him think that?

(9,958 posts)I think he defected.
He got a higher price, installed the experimental software patch, and left Karl high and dry on Election night.

(37,648 posts)too far ahead for the fix to flip the race.
Obama ended up winning by about 2%, I think. He was projected to win by 5%. The missing 3%...okay, let's say it's 2%? That's the fix that was supposed to flip it.
Also, it's probably hard to flip by an exact percentage. They do a bit here and there, and when it's nail biting close, that's when it works. That's why it's used in OH and FL mainly.

(617 posts)Claiming that OH is undeservedly the focus of national attention (hey asshole, we only focused on you because you were attempting to suppress the vote!), he wants to set up a electoral distribution system that awards on the basis of districts. This, in OH's highly gerrymandered districts, will have the effect of the majority of OH's electoral votes going to Republicans.
Can't let the asshole do it, y'all.

(33,688 posts)Rover got away with it in 2004. Husted's shenanigans were very much on the radar of a federal judge in Ohio and would have been investigated at length in the vote had come back looking funny. This doesn't require any big conspiracy. The fix needed only Rove and Husted. Husted probably contemplated the distinct possibility that he would be going to man-prison, a/k/a the federal slammer, for an extended stay if that judge had impounded even one vote tabulator. Who in their right mind would spend 10-20 years in the Big House to protect KKKarl's doughy ass? Nobody. There's no honor among thieves.
And in the long run Ohio didn't even matter.
