So last week I was watching one of those Luc Besson spy thrillers, and one of the characters had a briefcase full of classified documents. The cover pages were marked secret and top-secret, but the colored border, at least the red one that I noticed, extended all the way out to the edge of the paper.
It got me thinking that the pages the Trump had had a white border around the colored edges and I do recall that someone here mentioned that that happens with the copy machine, or that it can happen with a copy machine. If this is true, then the originals are already gone, possibly all of them . It may will be that the government does not want to state publicly that this is the case for a variety of reasons and it reminds me of the people who sat in chairs outside of Air Force bases, and watched the B2 bomber come and go, even though the government never acknowledged its existence until years later. .
I for one believe that he had prearranged the sale of documents, which he stole from the White House, and negotiated them immediately, because any delay would tend to devalue the information present in these classified documents. Again in the movies, the character always says the latest intelligence states that
. Thats the stuff you want
The latest intelligence.
Obviously, the powers that be know whats going on here. I think they have deliberately uninformed us for many many reasons, most of them probably valid. Others, not so much.

So even if he returned classified documents or taken from him during the search warrants, I'm sure he still has digitized copies at the ready & up for sale.

(185 posts)So I texted her and asked her about the borders and could you tell if it was a copy. She just said "the borders are classified". She is very tight lipped. So I think it is true, one of the documents in the famous Maralago photo is a copy. She also said if she did what Trump did she would be in Lansing.

(27,967 posts)My mom who was very open and outspoken worked at the Philadelphia Naval shipyard during World War II and she would never discuss anything from then. Even though it was 55 years later. Her reasoning was she signed the document which said she would never discuss it and so she wont and she would add, you dont need to know because it has nothing to do with you.
I have signed such documents that silence me from discussing certain things for life.
and now I am just forgetting them.
I can't remember what I was supposed to forget!

(9,241 posts)Told intel friend of mine the other night I had a secret clearance and got a briefing on a weapon system in the Army back in the early 70s.
Two years later what was secret was now in advertising by the manufacturer! So I mentioned it to our S-2 who told me even if they do it - YOU CANT!
My Intel friend told me: You still cant.
And we laughed!

(40,120 posts)... I believe the Feds would have asked the movie producers to remove it from the script. Since it wasn't removed, maybe it's just a flight of fancy and not a true detail about US top secrets. Makes for some interesting speculation though.

(23,475 posts)The ONLY legitimate reason I can think of for the unbelievable delays is that an indictment might further compromise sources and so on, but THAT CAT'S OUT OF THE BAG.

Pentagon leaks suspect to remain detained as he awaits trial
Magistrate Judge David Hennessy had been considering whether Teixeira would continue to be held behind bars for weeks, as prosecutors and defense lawyers repeatedly battled over whether the 21-year-old Massachusetts native posed a continued threat to national security.
What the record at this point shows is a profound breach of the defendants word that he would protect information and the security of the United States and its allies, Hennessy said during a hearing Friday.

DOES THIS APPLY ONLY TO POOR SLOBS?

(20,372 posts)His "victory" in '16, although I'm quite convinced that his getting in the race was purely promotional, came as a surprise to him. However once he realized that he had won, his narcissism and greed took control and he believed everything belonged to him or was under his control. Although he's a shit businessman and negotiator, he surely felt that the job offered him the opportunity to turn a profit wherever one could be found. Wouldn't even be a shock to learn he had literally sold or traded away classified secrets right from the Resolute desk on one of his personal or burner phones.

(15,974 posts)I can't imagine that the buyer would care if the document is a copy or the original.
Also, I wonder if the gov't doesn't use copy-proof paper on secret documents.
Otherwise known as copy-proof paper or anti-copy paper, security paper employs certain attributes to prevent it from being copied or scanned.
from:https://www.thepapermillstore.com/security-paper#:~:text=Otherwise%20known%20as%20copy%2Dproof,from%20being%20copied%20or%20scanned.
Obviously, even copy-proof paper documents could be photographed with even a cellphone camera and the jpgs could be printed.
Probably the feds have more information they're not making public.
