Social Security Raises wiped out by Medical Co Pays

Just received the First Check of this Year...

After several years of no raise for cost of living at all....
Our Medical Insurance took this as their chance and now that Raise has been wiped out by raising Co Pay's..

In other words..
NO RAISE for Those who needed it badly..
The Insurance Companies will get it all...

Now thats change you can bank on...
Again stick it to those who cannot help the position they are in and need help the most..

From your post, it sounds like you have private insurance.

However, my rent was increased $30/mo. That puts me worse off than before the SS increase.

5. I predicted this when all the enthusiastic posts about the raise were being made

and received the expected unpleasant responses for bringing it up.

We all know this song by heart by now.

One very important point that was stressed in the most recent Bill Moyers show about inequality, and that warrants stressing again (my summary, not a quote):

The squeezing and destruction of the middle class and the increasing desperation of the poor are not, as we are often led to believe, happening naturally and inevitably. They are happening because of policy choices in Washington. Priorities are in place, and choices are being made, over and over again, that favor the one percent and that cause increasing pain for the rest of us.

Don't forget that. Occupy.

6. All of the co-pays in our supplemental went up.

Medication is up $2.00. On the surface it's not bad except I have several serious health issues and have to take a lot of prescriptions. Lab work is up. Office visits are up and if they tell me I have to have certain tests, I won't be able to afford it.

The elderly and disabled are in trouble as well as the poor. These are scary times. I am tired of seeing people almost in tears when they reach the check out stands in the store. These people are buying soda and junk food. They are buying processed foods a lot of the time because they can make a meal stretch. Dreamsmoker and I have it better than a lot of people. We garden and learned a long time ago to eat very low on the food chain.

It may not be that way for all and I am happy for those that can use the extra money for something other than medical costs. We have a supplemental and knew it was going to happen and chose not to lose our doctor.
