(This is an excellent Video of who Paula is..and she gave it when she knew she was under investigation. She feels she wants to be the New CONDI or MADELINE..at the end of the Video in the "Q&A." I think she will be after watching this incredible video of her views on our Military)

(84,711 posts)Watch it. I watched it over at "The Nation" (Greg Mitchell there was first to post it) before the video was yanked. So ignore the source and watch it while you can. It won't last long...unless the folks who want it to stay up...keep it up.

(84,711 posts)she was hoping U of Denver would give her the position that Condi Rice had.
It's quite interesting...her background and probably one of the most interesting political/war/international videos about our "young up and comers" in our Foreign Service that I've ever seen.
She has some interesting ideas that would appeal to many of us on the Left...but also many that would appeal to the Right.
She's really going to go far...when this "scandal" subsides. If you watch you will understand. Particularly some of us on the "older side" of DU members who have past history to judge by who will see something going on there that the younger ones will miss.
Younger ones should also watch because she's an "up and comer" for you all...

(84,711 posts)important to watch. What was she doing with Petraeous?
As a concerned voter and citizen I want to know as much as I can about how Paula got so close to Petraeous and why her co author of her Book about the General was the reporter for the Washington Post who broke the Lies about Jessica Lynch being raped and mistreated that was proven to be a Lie!
Who is she and how did she get such access and if she is tied into the NeoCons (Scooter Libby/Hudson Institute)....then I think most of us here on DU would want to know that.

I'll tell you what I've seen for the past two months.
Freepers are consistently quicker on a story than DU.
They just be constantly searching the net for conspiracies.

Vernon Loeb, one of the Washington Post reporters who in 2003 wrote the botched story about Jessica Lynchs purported battlefield heroics in Iraq, is returning to the newspaper as its local editor.

Washington Post, April 3, 2003
The electrifying but erroneous story about Lynch, then a 19-year-old Army private, turned her into the single most recognizable soldier of the Iraq War.
In a front-page report published April 3, 2003, the Post anonymously cited U.S. officials in saying that Lynch fought fiercely in the ambush of her unit in southern Iraq, that she had shot several enemy soldiers, and that she had fired her weapon until she ran out of ammunition.
But the hero-warrior narrativepublished beneath the bylines of Loeb and Susan Schmidtwas untrue.
Lynch did not fire her weapon in the ambush. Nor was she shot and stabbed, as the Post reported.
I examine the Lynch case in my latest book, Getting It Wrong, noting how the Post account of her supposed derring-do became a classic illustration of intermedia agenda-setting: News organizations around the world followed the Posts lead by prominently reporting the supposed heroics of young Jessica Lynch and contemplating their significance.

A Strange Resignation
Why was Petraeus Really Ousted?
by BART GRUZALSKI
CounterPunch Nov 12, 2012
EXCERPT...
The other possibility is good old-fashioned pillow-talk, the likes of which we havent seen since Christine Keelers association with John Profumo, British Secretary of State for War, led to his resignation in the early sixties.
In the Profumo Affair, as it has come to be called, no secrets were exposed. In Petreaus case the pillow-talk may have exposed an outlawed and illegal activity of our CIA. Broadwell, Petreaus biographer and lover, inadvertently may have revealed what was a top secret during a public talk at the University of Denver. She was in the Q&A part of the event when a questioner asked the following innocuous question: General Petraeus in his new role has a very difficult situation now in the center of the situation in Benghazi. Do you have any comments?
Broadwell did. After giving a bit of background, she mentioned that the ground forces at the CIA Annex were requesting reinforcements. Then she added: I dont know if a lot of you have heard this but the CIA annex had actually taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoners. She told her audience that the attack was thought to be an effort to get them back. Oops.
U.S. officials have not made reference to that possible motive in numerous accounts of the Benghazi attack and for good reason. The CIA has not had detention authority since January 2009, when Executive Order 13491 was issued. Any suggestion that the Agency is still in the detention business is uninformed and baseless, said a CIA spokesperson in a statement issues on Sunday night.
Looks like we could have a smoking pillow but well probably never know. In our democracy the military and other forces act in our name but we are often not told what is done or why, even if it is as illegal as torture, or extrajudicial killings, or renditions, or, as may be the case here, illegal detentions. Contrary to what the public is led to believe, the main reason for many facts being classified as top secret isnt so that the designated-enemy-of-the-moment wont knowthe enemy usually knows only too well, as Iraqis knew about the torture that was going on. The reason for secrecy is to keep the facts from us, the people, so that we are not a fully informed citizenry. Thats one reality of top secret in our nominal democracy.

(24,853 posts)being held there. That's my prediction.
I hope to fucking god they weren't using "enhanced interrogation" techniques... (ahem).
If there WERE prisoners at the Consulate or Annex in Benghazi, the next question is who knew, and how much did they know. It sure won't look kosher if there were, and the attack was an effort to free them. I don't see how this ends well.
My guess is it goes to the highest levels and somehow, Petraeus was the only one not issued a "Get Out of Jail Free Card" reminiscent of the movie scene in "Patriot Games". I bet there are some clenched assholes over the prospect of Petraeus testifying before Congress... now that he's been shown the door, who knows WHAT he'll say.
