Should he fail to be removed from office, I will tear my eyes out of their sockets if one poster comes on to DU on election night saying something like this:
"Well gosh, we came up short but we gave Scott Walker a good scare. Boy we sure showed them! To even get the signatures for a recall was a really big deal. We feel so good inside about ourselves! We should really be proud of our effort."
I remember reading such foolish posts after Paul Hackett came up short in the OH-2 special election in 2005.
No. There are two options now: recall and remove Walker, which is a win, or you don't get the votes and he stays in office, which is failure.

(8,879 posts)including being limited in the size of contributions they are able to take in vs. Walker not only already having a warchest and significant built in funding streams, but also as far as I know he is able to collect unlimited corporate contributions. I believe the challenger's contribution collection will be capped at $1000.00 per person. Jessica King, our state senator was elected in a recall election vs incumbent Randy Hopper facing the same hurdles. It's not undo-able, but it's a huge funding mountain to climb.

(8,879 posts)a lower bar to hurdle for re-election. We have to work that much harder. That's all I'm saying.

(33,497 posts)BTW, a big difference between Paul Hackett's special election vs. a recall election. We intend to do all we can to win and we will be up against unlimited money. In this year we, in WI, have put a good deal of attention on GOP governors vs. labor rights and gave national exposure to this issue thru our rallies earlier in 2011 as well as the recall process which recalled two GOP State Senators in 2010. We had to wait until November to begin recall efforts against Walker, and in two months we got over a million signitures. We intend to win it, but iff we do come up short, regardless of your advice, I'll still be proud of our efforts in Wisconsin.
