Fake speed camera slows drivers, breaks the law

KENSINGTON, Md. — For some, McComas Avenue is just a short cut on their commute, but for Matthew Fairbank, it's home.

"They're doing 40, 50 miles an hour down the strip," said Fairbank. "Someone actually came down the strip and came into the retaining wall at one point," he said pointing to the home where he and his wife live on the Kensington street.

One is impersonating a police officer, and this was a violation of zoning and sign ordinances.

Very clever! They would have gotten away with it to... if not for those darn meddling kids... AND the fact that they put up an official-looking sign. They should have gone for subtle rather than blatant deception.

behind me. I pull over and cop explains I was going 38 in a 30. Then he goes on to explain how folks here are upset about speeding. Seems there was someone killed in a car accident and then two other people got killed, going to the wake,

Then he gives me the summons. But he goes on to read the required "due process" stuff about what happens if I don't pay the ticket.

(To myself): "Shut da fuck up and just give me the ticket."

So after about 15 or 20 minutes, I'm back on my way to my squeeze. I go back to N.j., but a $45 check in the mail and forget about it.

FAST FORWARD (that's a term we don't use anymore) about 3 years.

A check comes in the mail from the State of Vt. Seems this guy is an aux. cop. He bought his own radar gun, never had it calibrated nor did he receive authorization to use it.
