https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/2024/michigan/8/1-2 Emerson has Biden v Trump at 44-44
But Add in Cornell West and it's Trump 43-41 and West with 4%
All hands on deck, we need a 2020-like turnout to win this thing...

(107,484 posts)So far I'm glad no one is taking the bait, but we've definitely got to see past his evil schemes. There's too much at stake in this election, we cannot allow those scumbags to get what they want.

(6,198 posts)During a radio interview Monday, presumptive Green Party nominee Cornel West didnt dispute that he owes half a million dollars in back taxes to the IRS.
The Daily Beast drew upon county clerk records in New Jersey and California to reveal that the IRS had repeatedly flagged West over back taxes, including for $85,477.02 from 2017, $136,916.26 from 2016, $82,396.14 from 2015, $98,818.25 from 2014, $62,367.69 from 2013, and $77,803.42 from 2005all of which remain unresolved, according to the public records.
Any time you shine a flashlight under somebodys clothes, youre gonna find all kind of mess, because thats what it is to be human, West asserted.

(28,741 posts)Says the guy viciously lying about Democrats with ridiculous insults for many years: corrupt election-rigging "milquetoast neoliberal" elite warmongers yearning for "American Empire" WWIII who ignore the working/middle classes and on and on and on. Talk about distraction, below the belt, and demonizing liberals as not human.

(13,237 posts)votes lost to them. I wish the media would explain that we are not a parliamentary system, and third party candidates who do not get 50% of the vote in a state will get no Electoral College votes. No third party has a chance of getting anywhere close to 50%.
In reality, we have two parties in this country, and they are the only ones that matter. Ive heard people say that voting for a third party is a protest vote to tell the other two parties that their policies are not liked. Well, guess what, one of the other two parties will win all the EC votes and they dont care that you threw your vote away. Third-party votes are spoilers and often result in the worst candidate, in this case Trump, winning.
I think if you live in a very safe state for one of the two main parties, voting for a 3rd party isn't really a big deal. Someone putting down West isn't gonna tip California - Biden will win here by about 5 million votes (note, I am not voting for West).
But in the 6-8 states that matter, no one should vote for 3rd Party if they have someone they really want to vote against.

(33,424 posts)They just need one more vote than whoever is in 2nd. There are many states where Indies have more registration than either Ds or Rs.

(31 posts)So many Americans were able to vote by mail - way more than will have that opportunity in 2024.
We can't count on 2020-like turnout.
With that said, this poll is irrelevant, Even with West, there's still 12% who are undecided. That number is way too big to take any of these polls seriously.
For all we know, 90% of that 12% are going to vote Biden.
That would give him a 51.8 win over Trump.
