Smirking Chimp blog: Democrats need to stop self-cutting

(Poster's note: I am NOT, repeat, NOT posting this as a rebuke of DU or anything like that. It's just a good article I saw and mostly it applies to blue check cosplay libs in the social media universe, not here, so don't drag me. Thank you).

One year now, we’re observing the “Inflation Reduction Act.” But we all know what it is besides that. It’s “Build Back Better” snipped. And that’s okay, that’s what we could get, and what we got is gorgeous. There is lots of clean energy things in it. Things that will build our economy long term. Prescription drug reform. IRS tax enforcement. It’s already doing what it says on the tin: US inflation has beaten it everywhere in the world. Yes, buttholes: Biden did that. “Bidenomics” is working, though I’m with Randi Rhodes, I like the “Biden Boom” better. It’s more satisfying. Boom.

But back to the original question: Why do Democrats and/or Progressives shit all over the idea of Biden/Harris running for reelection? It makes no sense. I suspect it’s largely a fear of 2016, happening again. But I keep trying to explain that 2016 was a red herring. It will not happen again in 2024. Trump won’t win again. It’s just not going to happen.

The forum was a lot of fun and safe haven after GW Bush was installed as president in 2000. The side by side photos of GWB and chimps were hilarious.

Wonder if there are any other Chimpsters on DU?

I remember when he first got elected all the political cartoonists portrayed him as a chimp (a pretty easy comparison). Then after 9/11 he got pretty popular with a lot of people who weren’t paying attention, and the cartoonists backed off. By the end of his term more and more people realized he was worthless. There was another site I used to look at a lot back then but don’t remember it now. Maybe it was DU. Once Obama got in i felt less compulsion to read political satire.

There was a site I think called the Muganda Guru or something. It focused on the economy. I used to read that pretty often.

for all his undeniable successes has generally abysmal approval ratings (and one would have to assume, backing). I personally think that any suggestion of 'another' nominee - is nothing short of a 'shroom fueled psychedelic fantasy. Or that a bruising primary is going to be 'healthy' for the party and Biden in the end - quite equally deluded. But, having said that - I think the sense of 'unease' in the Democratic ranks - comes from a very natural place.

I hope the numbers improve between now and next fall - and I am depending on bloviant pig being the alternate choice (as an in your face reminder). But, turning cartwheels over the prospects for 24? Not right at the moment.

But we've seen what happens when enough do and it's not nipped in the bud. Nip it! Nip it in the bud!
