been watching msnbc lately on the internet mirror site and noticing all these commercials are full of well dressed and healthy looking people who are all living in fabulous houses and places. Nobody living in a FEMA trailer, punky little tract home, or anything looking like the homes of people I actually know.
If I take their pills can I go to New Zealand or Paris (France) too? Or get a babe on my arm?
And in all the pill ads nobody actually looks like they are sick enough to need the pills.
depressing really lol

(67 posts)To someone for which treatment for depression is a matter of survival in this world because without anything it kind of interferes with being able to hold down a job the healthcare industry doesn't seem to give a fuck. If you're able to make that kind of money you're probably not that depressed in the first place.

Hubby and I are cutting back and on a strict budget weekly. We've cut out lots of extraneous things and are watching every dollar and using supermarket coupons and specials. It's not so bad because things are OK so far but if the stringent budget has to get more stringent it might be a problem...

I'm always amazed at the number of 20 somethings I have to wait in line behind. And trust me, they look very healthy and happy. Come to think of it, I almost never see people my age (late 60's)
Same thing w/ those viagra commercials too. Why, when I was those guys age....

I've noticed that about movies a lot - no one lives in a normal little middle class house/home/place unless you are a meth dealer or just out of prison or something seedy.
Remember Home Alone? Their house was Yikes Big!

(192 posts)I am a newbie here--long time reader but I am not really into forum posting so I have never bothered to join until now.
But I have a few questions--and I am hoping some of the people here can help me out.
1) My student loans are currently in default (don't judge). I know that Obama proposed help for student loans--can someone point me to where I can find out about what he is going to do to help us.
2) I am long-time unemployed in Ca. but don't qualify for medicaid and can't afford private insurance. In a year, medicaid will have to help me--but I can't wait until then. I have a health problem that I need to get checked out (possibly a tumor). Does anyone know of a free clinic in Northern California where I may be able to be seen?
thanks to all you activists for fighting the good fight. I am not really an activist myself (don't generally talk and think about politics every day--but I do vote and appreciate all of you).

(192 posts)excellent! I actually didn't know of anything--there is a local women's clinic (but I'm a man) and that was about all I was aware of. This gives me a place to start. I may also call the Haight and see if they know of one closer to me--sometimes people who do that sort of thing have connections/contacts.
I appreciate the advise
