What do the Republiban think could have been DONE about Benghazi?

They keep acting like it could have been prevented. Why are they so freaking sure of that, and what, exactly, do think think anybody COULD have done to keep it from happening?

I've never really understood where they were coming from on this-other than the fact that they still can't accept the fact that Benghazi wasn't enough to elect Romney?

I think it is fair to ask if Benghazi could have been prevented then we should be fair and call into effect a investigation into the Word Trade Center on 9/11. Fair is Fair now if we are going to investigate Obama lets do the same to Bush.

They let her get confirmed in exchange for the Senate NOT investigating what Dubya and "Unca Dick" did back in the day.

That he should have known the consulate was vulnerable and authorized additional security. Some even claim he deliberately allowed the four Americans to die.

There were requests for additional security for Tripoli, but not, in my understanding, for Benghazi. Since Republicans can't be bothered to look at a map, they don't know the two cities are 1000 km apart. I had one claim to me that requests for Tripoli "covered" Benghazi since they are just a little ways apart. I pointed out that security in Tripoli no more covered Benghazi than security in DC covers Cincinnati.

They also believe the President deliberately had Susan Rice lie because he wanted to pretend it was about a movie to cover up what they claim is his negligence. Never mind that McCain and Graham already have copies of the same intelligence reports that the White House and Rice received before she taped the Sunday news shows.

Before the election, their position made more sense because they wanted to make the President look bad. Graham and McCain's posturing, along with Susan Collins of all people, seems strange to me now that the election is over.

Oh, they also think the President got rid of Petraeus to keep him from spilling the beans on Benghazi. Petraeus will testify and set them straight on all of these issues, not that it will probably change anything. They are just sore losers.

Heck, extreme conservative Rand Paul blamed it on one thing: Lack of Marine security guards for the ambassador.
He didn't have any bizarre conspiracy theories etc.

Edit: I think many are playing politics. They want to impeach or hamper Pres. Obama.

Repubs just made up shit concerning what happened and why when they have no clue. This is why there needs to be an investigation to find out what happened and why to see if anything even could have been done to prevent it and who, if anyone, dropped the ball. Broadwell stating outright in a speech that the CIA was illegally holding prisoners there and was the reason for the carnage needs to be thoroughly looked into. Obviously she blabbed this info having no idea that it was illegal, and I can't imagine she just made it up out of whole cloth... which makes be believe that it's true. If this occurred then the golden boy general's head should role and why I believe his resignation solely because of an affair is BS.

it didn't help with the election, so they'll play it out to get some juice for the SoS confirmation.

Then, they'll drop it unless they see an opening for impeachment. (Like that will happen...)

we already know this because RMoney said so in the damn debate. Trust if they had an alternative plan mittens would have proudly shared that with the American people that night. They just want to cause division and hate towards the President. I just can't believe how they ignorantly continue down this path like they didn't learn a damn thing over the past 2 years. It's evident they do truly live in an alternative place.

Benghazi is just...well, it's like you said, what did they think could have been done?

Apparently, they really seemed to think they could hobble the President with it. To their credit, America didn't buy into that noise.
