Merrick Garland

Not that it matters, because he isn't going anywhere, but:

Go read his bio on Wikipedia.

One simply does not accomplish all that he has in life without some serious grit.

A certain segment seems to mistake “methodical” for “ineffectual” and begin hurling stones because they can’t grasp the complexity of the situation this man has been facing since he was thrust into the role in which he now finds himself.

Could one not conclude that one simply disagrees with the other and sometimes disagreement happens?

That said, I will hold off on an assessment until the end of his time as AG. I think there is a lot that he is doing that is not getting attention and there may well have been multiple issues that have driven his strategy that we are not aware of. Time will tell. It isn't as though he were blocking indictments of Trump. DOJ's actions via Hunter Biden are reminiscent of Comey's treatment of HRC, but his hands-off approach may have been necessary. Not to suggest I haven't shared the frustrations of many here, but I'm still watching before deriding.

it will be fascinating reading. I rarely read anyone's book, but I'd have to read his.

But that in and of itself was a gamble because JS could have ended up being a trump acolyte.

I've gone back and forth a couple of times over the past 24 hours but today I'm more settled in my thoughts: Hunter Biden is being used as a political pawn, with assistance from the doj. The rightwing scream machine has been pressuring the doj to indict Hunter for years.

I do not support a double standard system of justice for the rich and powerful. The problem is that the three charges are just that: a double standard. A regular person would not have been charged with this. Period. This is only happening because Hunter Biden is President Biden's son.

The travesty that is unfolding is absolutely disgusting and disgraceful, and it's happening on Merrick Garland's watch.

This could potentially cause President Biden to retire and honestly I wouldn't blame him.

We have a very deep bench. But I hope he sticks it out. I think he will, he is about as tough as they come. He is still what we need right now and he knows it.

We here at DU don't really know all that much about about the internal actions (and/or inactions) of the AG in the course of these investigations. We're like the six fabled blind men, arguing endlessly about their incomplete perceptions of the elephant.
