What kind of degenerate thinking goes into this mindset? How much energy goes into hating and to basically having your humanity and soul decay from the inside out? Not realizing that YOU are the problem, you try to reach/program others, use their vulnerabilities to plant seeds of rot into their humanity and foment violence against your fellow humans. I am not religious, but I do believe in evil.

The same way a sociopath lacks empathy.

The same way a psychopath can murder without feeling anything.

I feel it's the same thing with Nazi's and white supremacists. They somehow feel superiority because of their race. To me, it indicates either a mental illness, a personality disorder, or an organic brain disorder.

As a Nazi you get to hate a group of nameless faceless people, and when they're gone you get to plunder the space and resources they occupied, so there's more for you and your family.

5. The Nazis took control in Germany as the result of circumstances following WWI

Basically, after having lost the war Germany was in bad shape. Hitler and other politicians saw that a scapegoat was needed to take the blame for all the problems (since they were unable to solve them themselves), and since anti-Semitism already existed, though not so overtly, Jews were easily designated as the cause of all the difficulties. And once an out-group can be blamed for all of a country's ills, the easy next step is to dehumanize them, depict them as inferior, dirty, dangerous animals, and then it's possible for many members of the general population to justify their isolation, imprisonment and eventual extermination. This has happened in many places, not just Germany, when a demagogue takes control and is able to convince enough people that an Other presents a mortal danger to them and their country. This is exactly what TFG and his new Nazis in the GOP are doing.

That said, the political benefits of having a group to characterize as a common enemy and then exploit were not lost on him.

Many Nazis weren't true believers but assisted with the exploitation merely to improve their positions.

In a way, that is even more evil.

Augsburg’s SS unit performed “special duties,” a euphemism for exterminating Jews and other “undesirables” during the Second World War.

Although he was wanted in Poland for war crimes, Augsburg managed to ingratiate himself with the U.S. CIA, which employed him in the late 1940s as an expert on Soviet affairs. Recently released CIA records indicate that Augsburg was among a rogue’s gallery of Nazi war criminals recruited by U.S. intelligence agencies shortly after Germany surrendered to the Allies.

The CIA reports show that U.S. officials knew they were subsidizing numerous Third Reich veterans who had committed horrible crimes against humanity, but these atrocities were overlooked as the anti-Communist crusade acquired its own momentum. For Nazis who would otherwise have been charged with war crimes, signing on with American intelligence enabled them to avoid a prison term.
