Please be careful on voting for members of your school board. This is not a decision you make when you are in the voting booth.
Research, research research every candidate. No public office
is insignificant any more.
Mom's for Liberty is fielding a candidate in our school district if this candidate wins, the results WILL be disastrous.

(73,786 posts)in these way down ballot races, it rly does help to give voters info on the way into the booth.
sometimes they dont even know that these races r on that ballot.
when i was working w my ward org, we put a ton of effort into our judicial ratings and candidate forums for these down ticket races.

(181 posts)In Walnut Creek - Acalanes School district's last school board vote, there were 3 candidates who 'ran as a slate', and some digging revealed they had each received donations from Virginia Thomas --"Ginny Thomas", Supreme Court Thomas's wife...they didn't win, but it was a lesson--->they are targeting hard local elections

(2,242 posts)Don't want to give them clicks, but they are sending pledges to candidates and promoting those who sign. Makes it easy to know how to not vote, I suppose. We have two who have pledged for three seats in our district. Luckily, we have enough options to make sure neither are elected.

Some of these local races are nonpartisan, so it's not obvious who is a Dem or a Mom for Liberty. Some states have actual Nazis running for office with armed storm troopers to intimidate voters.
Sometimes Nazis look like this

They didn't look like brown people or artsy people or other nonconformists, that's for sure.

(1,313 posts)Thats Gabriel Hanson, a Franklin, Williamson Co., TN mayoral candidate who came to a local debate recently with some bonafide PB stormtroopers posing as bodyguards. Why on earth she felt the need to have her so-called bodyguards at a local mayoral debate is beyond me.
A real nut job

(8,219 posts)Last year I put about 30 signs around town for the school board candidate endorsed by our local Democratic party. They were extremely grateful for the help.
We had two extremist candidates, one Moms Against Liberty candidate & one who had links to the Federalist Society on their campaign website. Both got trounced, only got single digits (7%-8%) in the vote, in the "cesspool" of Florida.

(108,922 posts)This woman is an absolute menace. She ran courting the religious vote and had absolutely no experience in any educational fiel whatsoever. She sued her own district over mask mandates. She went to the insurrection. She held highly illegal back doors after hours meetings to get books banned. And lately there was an attempt to privatize the local high school that would have benefitted her corporation (that failed spectacularly). And after all of this, does she get punished or disciplined? Nope. And we're probably stuck with her for the long haul. She also walks and talks like she's from a Trump clone factory or something.
My point is these MAGA religious lunatics are everywhere. We've got to stop them at every level.

Do not take school board races for granted. Research the candidates and vote in every single one you are eligible to vote in if you ca.

And unfortunately, BOE elections are poorly attended. This guy may get in.
