Hamas says purpose of massacres was a 'permanent' state of war on Israel's borders

As Israel is pressured to agree to pause in fighting, top officials in terror group laud ‘great act’ of Oct. 7 and say they never intended to ‘improve the situation in Gaza’

The goal of Hamas’s October 7 massacres in southern Israel was to “change the entire equation,” bring permanent war to Israel’s borders and renew attention to the Palestinian cause, a senior member of the terror group’s politburo in Qatar said.

“What could change the equation was a great act, and without a doubt, it was known that the reaction to this great act would be big,” Khalil al-Hayya told The New York Times in an interview published Wednesday. “We had to tell people that the Palestinian cause would not die.”

--snip--

“We succeeded in putting the Palestinian issue back on the table, and now no one in the region is experiencing calm,” Al-Hayya said, confirming that he considered the attacks a success.

While world leaders have been pushing for Israel to agree to a ceasefire in its war against the Gaza terror group, Al-Hayya and other Hamas members dismissed the idea that they want to govern Gaza and restore a sense of calm, instead expressing support for endless conflict.

“I hope that the state of war with Israel will become permanent on all the borders, and that the Arab world will stand with us,” Hamas media consultant Taher El-Nounou told The Times.

“Hamas’s goal is not to run Gaza and to bring it water and electricity and such,” al-Hayya added. “Hamas, the Qassam [Brigades, its armed wing] and the resistance woke the world up from its deep sleep and showed that this issue must remain on the table.”

Anyone who thinks that Hamas is in the least bit interested in peace in Gaza is delusional. Anyone who only blames Israel for civilian deaths in Gaza, as Hamas intended, enables terrorists.

1. Hamas was banking on the idea that "terrorism works"

Judging from the many dupes who have wittingly and unwittingly rallied to their cause, they were "correct".

Their objective was mass murder and they give exactly zero shits about the Palestinians they surround themselves with?

It seems like they are living up to their Covenant. Too bad many people can't believe it.

There’s a tweet around here of them shooting civilians trying to leave Northern Gaza during ceasefire.

I’d post it but I’m on the bus now.

5. Sadly, Hamas may get its wish. If Israel occupies Gaza there will be constant ambush attacks on their troops.

This makes it a lot harder for the "it is all Israel's fault" folks to look like heroes as they tear down missing photos and memorials for the child victims from last months attack

Hamas doesn’t want a ceasefire. That organization has to be destroyed.

The more people who read it, the better. This dickweed just made it crystal clear how much Hamas cares about the welfare of the Palestinian people, which is considerably less than zero. As in negative numbers, because they don't just not care; they are more than happy to use them as human shields and human sacrifices (martyrs, my ass).

The suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza is a win-win as far as this jackhole and his cohorts are concerned. All the deaths and destruction in Gaza aren't even collateral damage to Hamas. Calling something collateral damage implies the recognition that it had value and its loss is regrettable. Hamas doesn't regret what's happening to the people of Gaza at all. It's a feature, not a bug, to them!

Right now, they're sitting in their underground bunkers, enjoying all the food and water they've been hoarding down there and laughing their asses off while THEIR people starve and the world blames Israel. They are despicable subhuman scum.

I admit, it’s been irritating trying to discuss the I/P issue with folks who have refused to understand exactly what Hamas is and what their goals have always been.

The calls for a ceasefire, for a restrained Israeli response, for Biden to exert US leverage over Israel etc. are ridiculous if you don’t have even a basic understanding of Hamas.

Anyone paying attention when Hamas was elected knew this was their preferred outcome. The jackass Netanyahu’s culpability here is also massive and can’t be overstated.

Hamas has intentionally put Israel in a no-win situation, at the expense of Palestinian civilians as well, and it’s costing Israel big time on the world stage. The demonizing narrative has been effective.
