2:04 AM.

At 2:04 AM, I was 40 nautical miles to the southwest of this fucking orange fuck bag, sound asleep after planning today's meal. So, I'm wondering, was the fucking bloated tick jolted awake in a cold sweat? Did the used colostomy bag's squirrel brain start a whirring motion at the thought of what his future may look like? Or did the realization that all of his fucking bullshit will not defer what's coming and he ended up tossing and turning until he rolled over to his tacky nightstand, picked up his smartphone, and - alone, because his escort is hiding with her son - start typing out the equivalent of agonal breathing of a 'man' who's going down for the count?

His agony is our delight.

3. It's obvious that TFG is a deeply unhappy man.

An emotionally-balanced person, even one with serious real-life problems, doesn't go off like that. When mentally healthy people lose elections they're disappointed, maybe even angry, but they don't lose their shit (see, e.g., Al Gore, who got screwed but didn't act like a baby about it). People get indicted for crimes, maybe fairly or maybe not, but most of the time they don't insult or send out veiled stochastic threats against the judge, the prosecutor, the court staff, possible witnesses and the entire jury pool. If they say anything at all they insist they're innocent and welcome the decision of a fair jury, and then they shut up. On holidays, current and former presidents and other elected officials issue statements of greetings and best wishes for said holiday without insulting anybody or ranting about the unfairness of whatever pickle they've got themselves in (See, e.g., presidents 1 through 44).

That's because all these other people, even the worst of the Republicans, were at least sane enough to know that whatever ass-kicking life was delivering them at the time (and life always kicks everybody's ass now and then), a holiday is just a holiday and you don't have to vomit your venom as part of the celebration. That's just nuts. But TFG is just advertising his rage and fear and mental instability and misery - which he amply deserves.

But TFG is just advertising his rage and fear and mental instability and misery - which he amply deserves.

But most of all, what he is advertising there is his malignant narcissism.

Everything is always "me, me, me, me, me" with him, because in his tiny mind, he is the center of the universe around which everything else revolves. He is incapable of viewing events through any other lens, because that's the only lens he has.

When you know that about him, his behavior becomes quite predictable. Everyone and everything is either for him or against him. Every criticism of him and every reaction to him short of lavish praise, is seen by him as a full frontal attack and returned in kind.

Maintaining his image of himself as a very rich, powerful, and accomplished man and basically the most remarkable person who has ever lived and who is incapable of doing anything anything remotely wrong is of paramount importance to him, and he is constantly ready to go into defensive mode at the slightest provocation.

There are 2 main tools that he uses to protect his gigantic but fragile ego: 1) defending himself and 2) attacking anyone or anything that challenges his insanely exaggerated view of himself. I'm sure it's a full time job that must take the vast majority of whatever mental energy he possesses. It's no wonder he doesn't have any capacity left for things like rational reasoning or critical thinking.

All of the criminal indictments and the court appearances during which he is required to keep his mouth shut and submit to the authority of a judge must be incredibly taxing for him. His niece Mary Trump has said she thonk he's going to crack at some point. I think she may be right, and I will be very interested to watch the fireworks when that happens!

16. The rage and fear is the product of his narcissism - he isn't getting the respect and adoration

he feels he ought to be getting from everybody; instead, he lost an election he thinks he deserved to win; he's been indicted for crimes he thinks he should be allowed to get away with; courts are ruling against him and not treating him with the respect to which he is entitled. This infuriates and scares him. We're seeing him decompensate because he isn't getting his narcissistic supply. If he's going to crack I hope it's soon.

Such thinking is often based on the silly belief that all people are early to bed, early to rise.

Many of us have never been that.

Was I 'demented' when I would scribble away my frustrations in my diary at 2am as a teenager? Was I 'demented' because I stayed up late when I would play Rage Against the Machine on my stereo at that hour as a young adult? Was I demented when I would awaken my ex at 3 am to run to the grocer and get me a pint of ice cream, because I was pregnant and I'd just awakened for the third time that night to go to the bathroom? Or was I demented at 3 am when I was manning a widget machine at my graveyard shift job as an older adult?

Not in the least. I was simply awake at what other people call the middle of the night, for a variety of reasons, none of them having anything to do with dementia.

I'm not defending the idiot's vitriol, but that the hour of it doesn't have a discernible cause. It could be a sign of dementia. Or it could simply be someone who's a night owl. Or someone who has a bladder control problem waking him up, as some older people do.

Plus, some older people simply don't sleep all that much, demented or not. My mum, who was a traditional early to bed/rise type most of her life, now keeps the weirdest hours in her advanced years. She's older than this idiot, and hasn't one sign of dementia. Nevertheless, she's up at all hours now. I get calls from her at 2 or 3 am, because she's lonely and knows I'm there to talk to--because I've *always* been the type to be up at that hour, left to my own devices.
