The fascists are here in this country, in Florida:
Broward County Public Schools announced Monday that the school district removed the principal of Monarch High School and four other staff members due to allegations of improper student participation in sports. The initial announcement came with no explanation about what sport or sports were included in the investigation, nor did it detail what triggered the investigation or reassignments. But on Tuesday morning, district officials confirmed to the Miami Herald the reassignments occurred because a trans student had been playing volleyball at the high school. State law prohibits transgender female students from playing on womens and girls sports teams.
In a short, vague emailed statement sent Monday, John Sullivan, a district spokesman, wrote: The principal of Monarch High School and several staff members have been reassigned to non-school sites pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of improper student participation in sports. Although we cannot comment further, we will continue to follow state law and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation, Sullivan added. We are committed to providing all our students with a safe and inclusive learning environment.
In a follow-up email the same day, Keyla Concepcion, a district spokeswoman, named the five employees: James Cecil, the principal; Kenneth May, the assistant principal; Dione Hester, the athletic director; Jessica Norton, the information management technician; and Alex Burgess, a temporary athletic coach.

What the actual fuck? Florida needs to get its shit together. This is disgusting. I hope all parties sue for civil rights violations and WIN. The GQP continually proves it will hurt anyone, even children.

(1,103 posts)Since the 80s when I came out at 19 and lost my family's support. I have done public speaking and dealt with death threats as a result. Been fighting for a long time. You have any idea what that takes? I lived through the AIDS epidemic as a young man and fought loudly during that as well.
I honestly hope you don't have to do things like that. It sucks. This is just one of the many places I speak up.
I had hope with Obama. We got a lot done then. Unfortunately, it seems we gotta fight all over again. Kindly do NOT lecture me on what needs to be done. I am all to familiar with it. I can't believe it has to be done all over again.

(1,103 posts)I am so tired of this shit. I have been fighting this crap all my life. As another poster said in another thread, if reincarnation is real, I do not want to come back to this planet. It's horrible. My parents once said to me in an abortion argument, "Well, what if we aborted you?" I said, I would have applauded your decision. At least then, I would not have had to live through the horrors of this world as a gay person.
If I am being honest, was it worth being born? I have to say no. If I was told what I would have to live through before I was born, I would say no. But I'm here, so I want to do my best to make sure others don't have to feel that way. And as long as I am here, I will continue that fight.
Most of you have never or will never experience such things. And I hope you never do. My only ask is that you support those of us who do experience them.
