my suspicions finally confirmed- 'post birth abortion' is neonatal hospice.

so, jake asks dumbass about this, he dodges, then gets a clarification after-
“he’s talking about babies that survive an abortion, but do not get lifesaving care”
he’s talking about doomed babies. moms who were told their fetuses issues were ‘incompatible w life’

they arent aborted, they’re delivered. often w extra pain/work for mom, so they can have those few moments to hold their live baby.

this has been grinding at me for a long time, and finally they said it out loud.
besides being a firm advocate for hospice, and a former hospice volunteer, a couple ppl close to me do this work.
a clay person friend of mine went through this, and was so overwhelmed by what hospice gave them, that he went back to school to become a nurse so he cd do it.
my sister is a pro photographer who works w ‘now i lay me down to sleep’, volunteer photogs who take pictures of these babies, usually after they die. or any baby death.

for them to take work that requires more heart than the whole damn gop put together, turn it into something sinister, and use it against us all, i just cant anymore.

He's a well educated one.

THAT'S the problem. He's a smart stupid person.

You really have to wonder if he just plays this character in order to get a political following. Plenty of the GOP do that. Rep Jeff Jackson of NC has basically said that some of the worst of the worst are completely different people until a camera is pointed at them, then they say the absurd things we see and hear. Behind closed doors, it's a different person altogether.

Here he is talking about that;

BTW, this is a guy that could use our help. He is going to be gerrymandered out of his seat and he knows it, so he is running for NC Attorney General. He's a good and decent man.

Time to make Republicans personally liable for the death of any woman who was prevented from getting an abortion, to have to pay if a woman lives but cannot have children, to have to pay for any mental healthcare and to pay for the upbringing of forced birth children in whatever health.

I would add any and all officers of so-called right-to-life organizations.

on infants with extreme birth defects to prolong their inevitable death at the cost of great pain to the infant and great cost to the system, not to mention the parents would net get to hold their child and the staff who would be stressed beyond belief at having to provide -painful and futile care.

It's also an admission from the insane and vicious right wing that the main alternative to abortion in many societies has been infanticide, especially when there were already too many mouths to feed.

The government needs to stop trying to play doctor and so do the churches. They are both really bad at it.

talking about exactly what happens in the nicu. i cant imagine having those kinds of skills, but being told to use them for nothing.

mom went through either an induction or a c-sec, when she cd have a d&e. much easier on her.
all that for a few moments.

From her long career in obstetrics.

The infants 'born' with organs on the outside, not inside...

Or the ones without brains (saw lots of those when she did a stint in South Texas)...

Or the one that had died weeks previous and was finally 'born' with most of the body eaten away from sepsis...

It's downright sadistic to force the families to incur enormous medical bills to sustain these doomed lives, all because some deluded wankers have this idiotic notion that 'life begins at conception.'

Well, unless those lives are brown. Or XX chromosome. Or LGBTQ+. Or...well, fill in the blank of all the people that traitor thugs hate. Then it's okay to kill them, no matter what stage of development they're in.

the ‘born alive act’, passed under st ronnie, after the last time this bullshit got barfed up and twisted.
tbf, at the time, such babies didnt get palliative care, sometimes werent even kept warm, and were taken away from their parents. they were left to die.
btw, even in catholic hospitals. in those days, there was no requirement for ‘heroic measures’ if the patient didnt want that. being the paternalistic assholes they were, they decided.

that was 40 yrs ago. everything around death and dying was very different. thank ja it’s changed.
and yeah, i can give cheney a lot of props, but i havent forgotten this bullshit.

It is pretty common for people of all political/religious persuasions to want to beat death.

Are you thinking of assisted suicide? That they oppose, I'm pretty sure.

It's emotionally tough work. I started when my brother and his wife had a child born with a heart defect. They realized after they had made the decision to remove life support - and realized that within the few days of his life no one had thought to take photographs of him.

I encountered a lot of Christian fundamentalist/right wing parents who both sought our services - and when faced with a child with a diagnosis that was incompatible with life chose to induce labor early (at a time when the child is not capable of surviving) because it feels to them like they are not actively aborting the child and it (usually) gives them a little time with the child before the child dies.

They were not the only ones using the services of NILMDTS, but their use was disproportionately heavy in my experience.

That said, even though I know abortion opponents personally who have opted for this route, at least in the clip at the link, I didn't hear him say he was referring to early inducement of labor.
