Thousands of Israelis Protest in Tel Aviv and Northern Israel for Netanyahu's Ouster

Among the speakers at the rallies were relatives of those murdered on October 7 and MK Yair Golan, who called on Benny Gantz to leave the war cabinet: 'All Netanyahu wants is an endless war, without timetables or clear goals'

Thousands of Israelis demonstrated on Saturday night across Israel, calling for the ouster of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his part in the governmental failure that led to Hamas' massacre on October 7 and the outbreak of war in Gaza.
The demonstrations were led by activists and residents of communities near the border with Gaza and Lebanon who were evacuated from their homes.
Hundreds of people protested in the upscale town of Caesarea, near Netanyahu's private residence, with former Meretz MK Yair Golan saying at the rally that "this awful man who has no political, security, or human considerations in his heart other than his own personal benefit, dragged and continues to drag Israel into disaster."
Golan added that "From Netanyahu's point of view, there's only one way out of his current situation – all that he wants is an endless war, without timetables or clear goals."

Longtime DU member, not an uninformed person.

I just wonder if somewhere like the Israel-Palestine area has existed for 5,000(?) years can’t get along, what’s the future of any human civilization anywhere? If living next door for millennia hasn’t developed common bonds of survival, what’s the use? What’s the use for the rest of us, and what’s the use of helping a region that has been in continuous conflict forever? Will it really bring peace?

Israel would have probably been fine if they were located near the USA or something, but surrounding them with people who want all Jews dead is asking for trouble. They're just in the wrong part of the world.

Israeli and Palestinian people for the most part feel differently. They seem to understand the only solution to their security is an end to oppression and a goal of peace. I’ll keep hoping there will someday be adults in the room listening to those Israeli/Palestinian organizations working together towards that goal.

I know and I hear you, It's been going on for way too long. The only long-term solution is two states. In the short-term, that is going to take a lot of doing.

But at this point, given how bad all this has been, that is the ONLY way to move forward.

Israel needs new leadership so badly. Right wingers like Netanyahu only seem interested in making the situation over there worse. I truly believe that Israeli people and Palestinian people can work together to find a solution eventually. It will take time, but both sides need new leadership, right now.

Few of Israel's neighbors, if any, have the luxury of demonstrating against their own government.

On edit: Proud of your family to be taking part in it.
