Many years ago a very lovely man and his wife moved into our neighborhood in the Keys having recently retired from the northeast. We discussed many subjects, eventually politics as well and he told us he had been a union representative and eventually the first campaign manager for Joe Biden who was running for a local seat.
I knew of Joe and had always liked him, but asked my friend what had inspired him to do this.
His answer was simple.
Ive come to know the man, and he is the kindest and most decent man I have ever known.
But as we all know, it takes more than kindness and decency to be a great president. It takes brains and instinct and education and experience and friendships
and TIME to nurture them all
And to let them know that he is a decent human.
Mission accomplished. ❤️

(2,853 posts)I think there was some money behind Clinton, so I think he went to posher schools. He was nice enough, but his centrist stuff wasn't that great in the end. Biden was from truly humble roots, he went to a public university before law school. He has way out performed my expectations.

(16,609 posts)He did go to elite schools for college and law school (including a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford), but I believe that he got a lot of financial assistance due to being very smart and having a stellar academic record.
The same can be said of Ohama. Both of those guys were from middle class backgrounds, though.

(16,380 posts)Joe was not my first choice among many thru the years....
but I always liked him. Was in the audience in 2007 or so on Bill Maher's show, where they did a remote interview. Looked at my wife and said..."I agree with everything he just said...". He is a good and decent man. And a hell of a politician for Chrissakes! He will be re-elected in 2024. Thank god...

(10,131 posts)I have not always agreed with Joe
I preferred Obama or Pete Buttigieg
But I have followed Joe for decades. Always liked him.
I feel that I have a sound appreciation of who and what kind of person Joe is.
I think he's a wonderful human being and a great President.

Tavernier, I always enjoy your posts and seeing your username. It brings back fond memories of trips to the Keyes, mainly Islamorada and Key West.

But not today because it is cold and rainy and a very untypical Keys day.

(12,410 posts)I guess I just felt that a man like Our President should be covered with well earned praise daily, something that I find lacking, or perhaps just drowned out by the 24/7 Trump train wreck coverage.
Thanks, Two

most every news network. And then a panel of talking heads repeat it again and again. And as they talk, full size pictures of Jabba the Butt scroll over and over on a split screen.
