Maine Secretary of State Responds to Call for Impeaching Her over Trump Ruling

WGME -TV Staff
Sunday, December 31, 2023

Amid the backlash Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows has faced, state Representative John Andrews says he's filed a request to impeach Bellows.

He says despite Trump's activities on January 6th, he's met the qualifications to be on the ballot and that his name should be allowed to appear.

"The voters of Maine deserve a choice to vote for who they want, especially when it's a former president who's up by probably 50 points in the polls, " says Andrews.

the legal Constitutional path for a legitimate winner of the presidential election (President Biden) and instead, breaks the law, despite numerous court rulings that tRUMP/he lost fair and square, and then tried breaking the law, with a mob whom he called out, to break the law.

Nothing was clearer, than tRUMP's mob at the Capital and their breaking the law, trying to override Pence's duties. It was all captured on national TV and it sure wasn't tourists.

Of course John, we understand. It's not like anybody was hurt or died? Right John? Yeah....

Secretary Bellows was asked on Saturday about this impeachment effort.

She stands by her ruling and calls this effort a gambit and a distraction.

“It’s absurd and I don’t think it’s lawful under Maine’s constitution to bring impeachment of an elected official for doing their job and upholding the constitution and the rule of law," said Bellows. "But honestly, I think it’s a gambit to distract from disagreement over an issue and this process.”
