(44,025 posts)That would be somewhere around 8-10%. Add 10% of Republicans to our totals. Tell me who wins.

It will be interesting to see if that trend spreads to other states as well.

If Haley is the nominee, donalds people will vote for her. Because donald will be out whipping for her. Because pardons. Plus a bunch of self proclaimed independents who want to vote conservative to spite whoever they dont care for, or cause taxes, or whatever, will fool themselves into thinking its ok to vote for her over Biden, when they wont be able to do it for donald. Plus the suckers who will say "they are all the same" for Haley, but know beyond the shadow of a doubt thats not true with donald

(9,562 posts)On the other hand, you gotta wonder if the GOP will fix it so Trump's the nominee no matter what.

(13,949 posts)Right now he thinks he can win, and has friends that will cheat to get him back in office.
The second that becomes impossible for him, it becomes all about that pardon.

(9,562 posts)Haley's supporters are less maga and more traditional GOP than Trumpies. I think that's a good indication of what we'll get from them in terms of votes. That number of possible Haley supporters voting Biden might be slightly high, but I think it's encouraging.

(12,848 posts)Bottom line:
Democrats and non-Republicans are crashing the caucuses for Haley... NO, GOP'ers aren't abandoning Trump for Haley then voting for Biden.

In Iowa, Nikki Haley Has the Attention of Democrats and Independents
Ms. Haley has attracted the interest of non-Republicans who say theyll caucus for her, as rivals attack her for an insufficiently conservative message.

DES MOINES Some Iowa Democrats and independents are planning to crash the state's Republican caucuses Monday night and become "Republicans for a day" to vote for Nikki Haley but mostly, against former President Trump.
Why it matters: It's unclear how many will show up, but "crossover" voting is a low-key tradition in Iowa's caucuses and it's one of the big unknowns heading into Monday, along with how the dangerously cold weather will affect things.

(29,219 posts)Even if it's as half of them supporting Haley being Dems and Independents, that means the other half are Republicans who won't support Trump. That's still a pretty big dent in Trump's armor.

(12,869 posts)Biden? Not sure; I have been told "I'll skip that line" by a few.

(12,848 posts)Haley caucus support appears to be at least partially Democrats or Independents which explains why most will vote for Biden in the General.
It's not ME saying it...

(12,869 posts)NYT is paywalled. Axios talks abbot Does voting for her. So what? It doesnt mean that people in the GOP who back Haley are all still going to vote for trump. My experience is anecdotal of course, but I cant be the only one who knows these peoplle.
I'M voting for haley in MY state's primary. I'm allowed to do it & if it helps defeat trump I'll do it.
It wont help her in the General election, but if its not trump on the ballot in Nov, I consider it a win for the world

(12,848 posts)The OP makes a big deal out of Haley "voters" refusing to vote for Trump in the general.
Then we find out that a large number of Dems and never-Trumpers are going to caucus for Haley.
Of course they're not going to support Trump in the General because they're D's and left leaning I's...
It's like GOP'ers becoming "Dems for a Day" to vote for Dean Phillips... then saying they'll vote Trump in the General.
It's meaningless.

(3,704 posts)That fact lessens the impact of 43% saying they would vote for Biden since they were always going to vote for Biden in the General. I didn't read the article so I don't know if it points this out.
