DFT won with 70% in IA, his base used to be 35%

Has the GOP shrunk by half? Or has the party truly embraced Vladimir Putin and his lackey? Or did all the moderates stay home with the bad weather? What were the total numbers like today compared to last time?

He doubled his net value.

But I want to ask, how many actual votes does that amount to? How many eligible voters are there in the state and how many now claim the party compared to 2020 or even 2016? Just how many members have they shed since the escalator to hell descended upon us?

I suspect that the actual head count of actual registered Rs has declined significantly and so when I see only % thrown about, makes me wonder what n actually is.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I truly want to know how many former Republicans DFT has made. I guess I'll have to wait until the election.

I looked at the state's population is a little over 3 million; the anticipated total vote count - as seen on Kornacki's "board"- 119,000. From what I could guestimate there were considerably fewer like possibly right around only 100,000 total votes in for the night statewide. Some of the precinct counts were less than 50.

So of roughly 100,000 people voting tonight, a little over half were magats. That's maybe 55,000 voters, to be generous.

Makes you wonder how many stayed home due to weather or because they didn't want to deal with magats.

The general election will be interesting.

I notice that there are no "uncommitted" votes being tallied. When Minnesota did caucuses for presidential race (we've gone to a primary now) attendees did have an option to caucus "uncommitted" if they hadn't made up their minds or just didn't like any of the candidates.

If Iowa doesn't permit that, there really is no reason for sane or nearly sane Republicans (assuming there are some left) in Iowa to show up tonight.

Maybe 35% nationwide, but 35% of republicans in Iowa seems way too low.

If it grows to 100% Republican Iowan voters are Trumplicans. how does that relate to total number of voters identifying as Republicans? Say 2016/2020/2024?

tell you what I hear locally, I live in a hopelessly lost MAGA state and my county is among the worst. Most people around here are republicans or conservative. Even people who don't even really like him are in backlash mode right now. There is a lot of anger about all the legal action and everything, and insist it is all political weaponry. The latest ballot stuff in CO has really set them off to boot.
I was worried about this all along. I hope it wears off before the election comes around.
