Thread to offer your best wishes to Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., on his resignation from Congress

Whatever you may think of the Congressman, he is sorely in need of healing on many levels and it took a lot of courage for him, as a public figure, to acknowledge his mental health issues.

He deserves our support now as he moves into a time of recovery and reflection.

Sabbatical from the glare of the spotlight enable him to heal and come back to himself. I hope he will be kept safe in the arms of love and compassion by those who know him best.

No one to say that he has left anything undone, one does all that they can. And I wish strength to his family and friends during this time.

gotten out of the spotlight. I ran for a delegate for him in 1988. Lost, but he actually called and wanted me to be his convention whip for the Alabama delegation. It was the most exciting thing I have ever done, except for driving on top of a car on the Talledega race track after the race was over (and having police converge) and walking among thousands toward the Mall at Obama's 2009 inauguration.

I have never since met a man who could actually make people feel that the air was getting sucked out of the room when he entered. (literally....I can still remember it)

The funniest thing I remember was that Jesse told Dukakis that he wanted to be his "partner" ( simply meaning ally). The Dukakis team freaked out and thought he was actually asking for some legal agreement.

But this isn't about the dad...it is about the son. Who knows, with recovery and medication, he could be the brightest turnaround story out there.

They were dismissive, talked over him almost like Fox does people. It's the same way they treated Obama.

So, we work around them. Thanks to you for your work in those days.

I am also hoping this will be a huge turnaround. If he does not run for office again, it's completely understandable.

It is an incredibly hard task and I wish him all the best.

But, no...the Democrats COULDN'T possibly nominate somebody who admitted that poverty and hate still exist. Or that greed and war were BAD things. Couldn't have that.
