1. Wal-Mart worker trampled to death.

Perhaps the most famous, and one of the most tragic, story of Black Friday violence involves the 2008 death of Jdimytai Damour, a temporary holiday worker as a Wal-Mart in Valley Stream, New York.

2. Two people shot to death in Toys R Us.

Also in 2008, two men died in a shooting at a Toys R Us in Palm Desert, California.

3. One day, two armed robberies.

Last year’s Black Friday live blog from NBC News offers a glimpse into a wide range of horrors, among them not one but two armed robberies:

A 55-year-old shopper was shot and wounded during a robbery near a Walmart in Myrtle Beach, S.C., NBC station WMBF reported.

4. Pepper spray galore.

Last year we heard a lot about Occupy activists getting pepper sprayed, but did you know that Black Friday shoppers were also getting sprayed with the stuff?

I think black friday says alot about how truly fucked we are as a nation. I haven't seen black friday madness since leaving the states years ago - in my imagination, it is quite apocalyptic by now.

Two weeks from now, a lot of the items that were on sale today and tomorrow will be on sale again at damn near the same low price without the maniacs camping outside the doors.

was when I worked in them. That was a long time ago, and while it was still called Black Friday it wasn't anything like it is now, I don't think. It was just very, very busy. Now I work in an office where we get that Friday off, but if I go out at all, it's just to the food store.

Get the items you want, carry the items to help assure you have the ability to protect yourself, and come home safely. Black Friday is nothing more than a sporting event you can be part of.

I'm lucky I'll be home with the kids while the wife and her best friends hit he stores. For the first time in years we don't have any specific items on the list.

A bunch of people running around competing against one another for a goal. (stuff, deals, gifts...whatever you want to call it depending on your BF POV)

We don't need anything but the kids will receive a bunch of junk as is typical.

I got the last major gift (Honda CRF70F) yesterday for my son.

My wife and her friends will go out drink some starbucks hit a bunch of stores and come home with some funny stories of the silly shit they observed. I know she'll come home with 100's of bucks of misc crapola, but we have no "must have" items. That's the secret of BF don't go with an intended target but instead just snap up unexpected leftover/overlooked items.
