(111,261 posts)because there was too much baggage there, and we didn't do holidays. However, I did maintain contact with them and visit rarely, never on holidays.
I was there when they both died and I miss them. The best part about the long separation was being able to appreciate them as people, not parents. There was a lot to appreciate about the people.

(11,304 posts)were that way. I bet they both came from families that didn't do holidays. Do you share holidays with your family now? I just wondering. We had a large family and it was so much fun to watch my parents cook together and us kids would set the table and people around the neighborhood would stop in through dinner and sit and eat. We'd be there at the table all day long laughing and having fun. Our neighbors loved to come over because my mom was such a great cook. We always had a mix of Italian and American food. My youngest brother always wanted turkey so we made sure to have that. We also had Lasanga or baked macroni Italian style. Cutlets of chicken. Sometimes we have ham also. Mashed potatoes souffle'. Such wonderful memories.
