An Obama win? Or something more personal? I am thankful for many things, although this year has been a very challenging one in some ways.
But....if I had to narrow it to one, it would be my husband. I don't deserve him. Really. And I'm not just saying that, although I will make sure he reads this. Lol.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, DU!!!!

(13,466 posts)The re-election of the President and maintaining a Democratic majority in the Senate on the grand scale.
My good boss, who after over 40 years at the university where I work opted to take phased retirement rather than lay off anyone in his department.
The people in my life, my husband and my sister primarily.
And my precious doggie companion, who continues to open doors to more interaction with others for this consummate introvert, human and canine alike. She demands I get out of my comfort zone and her great love is contagious.

(11,464 posts)God (or whomever one believes in), blessed us when we were given us Barack Obama at our biggest time of need.
This time was even better than in 2008 imho. Because this time means what has been done is forever and won't be rolled back.
Happy Thanksgiving all!
And thanks to Skinner and the other leaders of DU for having this place for us on good days and bad days and hope this is here forever.

(417 posts)for my brand new Grandbaby (a month old today). Holidays have been very tough for me for the last 5 years. I lost both of my parents within 3 months of each other and with all the other deaths in my family half of them are gone. I dreaded this time of year.. Holidays just reminded me of the loved ones I lost.
With the new baby I am once again excited for the holidays. I'm excited to shop for him, I'm excited to decorate and I'm excited to cook!
Amazing how one little rugrat can change your whole view of life!! I am sooooo in love with him!!
I am also extremely thankful President Obama was reelected. I honestly feel a calm knowing he will be President for 4 more years.
And I would be remiss not to mention my hubby, who has put up with my whims for 28 years.
I hope everyone has a great holiday season!!

(32,084 posts)And, I am thankful for the majority of my fellow citizens saw to it that such a thing would never happen. Many of them stood in line for hours to combat the suppression of their vote, and I cannot thank them enough for doing that.
I am also thankful that my family are all still here. Even my stupid wingnut brother.
