I fear for America

I fear for our Constitution. I fear for our freedoms, I fear for our future.

Merrick Garland appointed a special prosecutor to investigate Joe Biden having documents from the white House. It was found that he was innocent of intentionally taking them. And then, this Special Prosecutor prick, added his opinion that Joe was forgetful enough at his age to do such a thing.(Special Prosecutors don't get to express opinions. And this one was obviously a biased one.)

Then, we have Trump saying out loud that he would eliminate NATO. Give-me-a-fucking-break. Why doesn't he just come out and say he'll nuke every democratic country in the wold?'

Every word that comes out of every Republican's mouth is meant to please their "Dear Orange Leader."

It seems to me that America is fucked beyond repair. If Trump and the Republican Party "win"/steal the upcoming election, I fear for our planet. The only rules they're playing by is the lust for absolute power.

You"d think we'd understand this and battle them accordingly. But no, we're sticking to the rules. And sticking to the rules may be destroy us all.

Because of the tragedies of WWII, few studied Nazi culture and the State's influence on ordinary life. They were controlled by religious zealots preaching chastity, procreation for the State, even procreation outside marriage and with foreign women by Nazi officers. All the while those at the top had mistresses, affairs, often divorces. And they were these dark-haired men, some of them with deformities, preaching blonde hair, blue eyes. So my point is this kind of parallels today, here, in the USA. Is this the beginning of the Fourth Reich?

This election has the potential to be the nail in the coffin if people don't come around and realize that even if their dream candidate is not on the ballot, they need to vote and not to waste their vote by voting third party or writing in a slogan for their latest cause.

If I were young this would cause me to lose faith and hope (even more than I already have throughout my life). I must admit that the extremely severe anger I feel for the GOP has been a driving force. It is exhausting but it drives me, likely to an early grave from the non-stop stress. Oh well, I have no kids (by choice) and I am glad for that every single day.

If the fucking moron wins I will be saying, "Ciao, USA!" as I plan to move to Italy if that is the outcome in Nov. Italy's govt sucks too but at least I will be out of this GOP Hellhole. My sister and I have dual citizenship so we are good to go.

And it's been said hat those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.

It Trump wins/steals the presidency, we will be living in a world that resembles that brought about by the NAZI's, or perhaps even worse if that;s possible. Most people can't or won;t see this. All I can say to them is stay out of group "shower rooms."

At least in WWII the U.S. was on the anti-Nazi side. Now the 3 most heavily armed nations the U.S , China, and Russia, will be on the side of stamping out democracy. How this doesn't terrify people I don’t understand?

I keep hoping the people on the side of good have a plan to circumvent this from happening, and aren't just sitting around crossing their fingers or praying that it won't happen. Hopefully it's already in place and they are just keeping it secret for strategic reasons.

I am glad I don't have children too, but I worry about the children of others. I also am not comforted by the fact I am 62. If it’s coming soon, I could still be here to see it happen.

The only advice I get from people who've I've discussed my fears with is well you can't do anything about it, so just enjoy what you've got now, or it hasn't happened yet, so maybe it won't. Frankly neither makes me feel any less scared shitless. I've tried to think of a way to protect myself and my loved ones, if the worst happens, but I've come up with Zilch so far. I've thought about moving to Europe, but I doubt the bad, will end at the U.S. borders. It will spread.

I mean I get people want to think positively, but just pretending bad things won't happen, is naive. I have always thought hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst is the better strategy. I just don't know how to prepare for the worst.

... things could still unwind into global chaos. Humans seem to need cataclysm every now and again. I don't think we'll make it through unless Trump is convicted multiple times, loses in humiliating terms, and his base realizes he could cause more damage than Hitler was ever capable of.

11. Dems are not getting their message out

Here on DU the democratic message, which is supported by facts, isn't even accepted.

People here are beaten down by constant news of out of control crime, or inflation, of the economy being poor, and basically none of the good that Biden has done is even accepted here. We're doomed in Novemeber if we can;t even examine the facts on DU without anecdotal evidence from news reports Data is constantly rejected and disputed even here.

Fact: Crime is at or near record lows in all categories.
Retort you'll fine here: "Yeah, but not in my city", or, "that's not what I see on Nextdoor." or "people don't report crime anymore it's so bad."
Fact, violent crime is way down, property crime is way down, might be the lowest since 1961 right now. Crime is also less likely now to go unreported than ever because technology makes reporting it easier.

Fact: Real wages are hgiher now than in 2019. Real wages take into account inflation, including grocery prices, and rent increases.
Retort youy'll find here: "Yeah, but people I know are struggling. So..." or "But rents." or "but groceries..."
Fact: Real wages means groceries and rents are taken into account, the facts say overall, people can afford the basics now more easily than before covid, those are just simple facts that trump anecdotal evidence. People never take into account wage growth, your wages went up in the last 5 years in excess of prices, that's iterally what real wages being higher means.

Fact: Less people are livnig paycheck to paycheck right now than in 2019.
Retort: "Nuh uh, I just saw a stat that said 62% of workers are living paycheck to paycheck!"
Fact; Yes, 62% is too high still, but did you know in 2019 it was 80%?

It's a steep hill to climb when you can't even get diehard Dems who post on a Dem message board to reject the hysteria presented in the media when the facts are easily found. How is Biden going to convince the rest of the country when he can't even convince DU?

when so much of the online blogs, talk radio, and, most of all. Fox "news," is spreading their bullshit far and wide.

The Republicans have a well oiled propaganda machine..We have MSNBC.

And this is a truly terrifying situation. An insane man who wants to own the world could actually, once again, be elected president, (or, for that matter, steal the presidency through the various tactics being put in place, in swing states at this very moment).

And so daunting to me, I come to DU for fact and reason based discussion, but that's even hard to get here.

Biden's message isn't even accepted with Dems. And not just on crime and the economy. But on student loans. People here still talk about the student debt crisis and are oblivious to the fact that Biden has virtually solved the student debt crisis with his pay as you earn adjustments that make student loan payements affordable to everyone. I'll repeat that, Joe Biden solved the student debt crisis in America permanently! It's so frustrating that we can't even acceptr these facts here, on DU, a safe haven for Democrats.

Joe Biden has gotten more done for the workinjg class than any President in generations, and we can't even get people here to acknowledge that without many of them repeating the fake news they hear in the media. And what's more, when presented with data, they'll still hold onto those emotional sound bytes.

If we can't get Dems here on the same page in regards to Joe Biden's amazing record, we don't stand a prayer with the general public.
