TV coverage from 49 years ago - JFK Assassination; As It Happened.

The assassination of a dream ....

I get really nostaligic when I see this stuff - It is mostly raw tapes of the TV coverage, beginning from before the first reports arrived - NBC, ABC and CBS channels are available ....

2 hours of CBS TV coverage:

The first of some ten clips from NBC:

FIFTY YEARS.

I don't need to watch those tapes, I can play them in my head, as can many, I am sure.

I had never seen anything but tape of Walter Cronkite.

(interesting seeing what TV was like in the early 60s)

I was 7 years old when this was recorded, and while I missed the earliest news reports (except what they showed in school before they sent us home early) - I was transfixed and glued to the TV for the next 3 days .... My mother let me watch the entire thing unfold from the moment I got home from school, and the burial some days later ...

I watched, live, as Oswald was transferred in the basement of the Dallas Jail, and was shot and killed by Jack Ruby .... It was utter pandemonium ....

So, yes, when I watch it, I do recall not only the ads, but parts of the news story that I had watched then are deja vu all over again ... I am pretty sure I watched NBC at first, and then started bouncing around CBS and ABC as well ....

Quite fascinating on so many levels ...
