This is fire! From #Kentucky Sen. Karen Berg, the only woman & the only medical professional on this panel about the anti-abortion bill. She laid it all out - how the GOP are killing, disempowering & disrespecting women, all based on a medical sham. She spoke truth to power!

This woman. Shes everything. A diagnostic radiologist. Shes talking about how a fetus does not have a four chamber heart at 15 weeks. Its not viable. She shames Kentucky elected men for making life harder for women under a bill that is a medical sham!
The only woman and physician on the committee. You are killing women! Then, she apologizes to the people of Kentucky for their weak ass electeds.
Women are coming for Republicans. We wont go back.

Watching christo-fascist white men with zero medical knowledge make laws to control women is infuriating. We don't need GYNOTICIANS.

(38,195 posts)They don't actually care about the science.
The soul enters the body at the moment of conception. Their faith tells them that's how God works, and that's why dropping a tray of IVF Zygotes can be prosecuted for wrongful death.

(22,725 posts)Religion isn't government.
There is a separation of church and state in the U.S. Constitution.
Religion isn't science.
Any politician using religion to press a point is being inappropriate. If they have to resort to using religion to bolster their argument, they have a poor argument.
When religious zealots spout their blather, shut them down.

Kentucky senator: Transgender son has died by suicide
Democratic Sen. Karen Berg said her son Henry Berg-Brousseau long struggled with mental illness, not because he was trans but born from his difficulty finding acceptance. She said he died on Friday.
The Louisville lawmaker said her son had just received a big promotion working for the Human Rights Campaign, which advocates for LGBTQ rights. He had finally found a community, she said, but that could not undo the brokenness that he already felt.
Berg has talked about her son during legislative proceedings as she opposed Kentucky bills that take aim at transgender people, which have increasingly passed in Republican statehouses across the country. That includes a 2022 law that bars transgender girls and women from participating in school sports matching their gender identity from sixth grade through college.

(4,468 posts)The weight of the world is on the shoulders of every thinking woman in this country. The rest will find out in the near future. This entire scene is a nightmare that wont end! Slowly I think the men who do not currently speak out on this issue will soon be standing on corners with us. This is not a woman problem but a course of civilization problem. We are in too deep! You can dress us in red but be certain to sleep with one eye open! What makes me even angrier is the cost of lost opportunities. Here we are discussing the same old shit when we could be creating, learning and sharing better days with those who need a hand up, with our families , planning for the future.

(12,480 posts)Anti-abortion, forced birth, is all about religion and imaginary super daddies in the sky. Anti-abortion and forced birth has absolutely nothing to do with science, concern for women or concerns for babies.
Without religion especially, Christian Evangelical religions, there is NO scientific reason to prevent abortions before fetal viability.
It's all this stupid nonsense about the super daddy wanting all zygotes and only human zygotes (eating fertilized chicken eggs is fine), to be born....as if their magical god isn't powerful enough to do it himself.
Why did their all powerful god allow for the abortion pill if he wanted all zygotes to be born. And why does he allow for miscarriages?
There is ample scientific evidence to show that nearly 85% of fertile human eggs pass through a woman's body, never developing enough for birth.
But of course this is all about forcing religious dogma into law.

(25,896 posts)Reublicans are killing women on purpose - an asshat in NC wanted it put into law that the fetus had priority over the pregnant woman! When 1 in 3 births end in miscarriage naturally, this is just a tactic for controlling women and making impoverished workers who have no education or health care and who work for pennies. That is the big plan and abortion is the first step. Next comes disallowing contraception, then sex and we are at the Handmaiden stage which is Alito and Thomas' wet dream.
