(2,854 posts)I was barely in the zone at a rest stop on the Northway between lake George and Montrael. The temp drop was amazing. Got maybe 90 to 120 seconds of totality.

(8,393 posts)I live in Virginia and it was really cloudy. We didnt see a thing even though we were supposed to be at like 88%. Just looked a little darker like it was gonna storm.

(2,759 posts)For one thing, the corona was much wider than what we saw
And the darkest it got was similar to your middle picture

(81,566 posts)Truly stunning. Captivating! And humbling at the same time.
Poor baby donald probably didnt watch because he doesnt recognize the reality of something more important than himself.

(25,743 posts)San Antonio had 97% cloud cover. We did travel to my son's house 30 miles north west on I-10, but cloud cover was like 96%. You could see a sliver of the sun behind the clouds from time to time, but it was too cloudy for glasses, so we just waited it out and tried to mark the sun's location with hopes of seeing something during totality.
Totality came. Crickets were chirping. People were popping fireworks (yeah..only in Texas). All of a sudden about 3 min 30 secs into totality, the beautiful corona appeared. It lasted about second or so, then the diamond of light began to appear. But, we could see the pink flares and the beautiful corona. I asked hubby and son if they got any pics. My son had snapped one with his phone. The photo quality isn't good because filming anything at "night" requires fidgeting with settings.
I was so excited to see the corona. Even if it was just for a second. I will never forget it.
I waited 12 years to see this eclipse.

(25,743 posts)because there wasn't anything to see.
Then, suddenly the corona appeared. It lasted a second and then lightness began.
By the time my son saw the corona and got the shot, the diamond was likely appearing.
