Renowned photographer (David Hume Kennerly) leaves Ford Foundation board after Liz Cheney passed over for top award.

He called Liz Cheney the ‘only person on this planet’ worthy of the top award. Apparently, she was snubbed by the rest of the board members due to possible retribution from Donald Trump, if he becomes President.

After reading this today (CNN, NBC news), it offended me for two reasons: first, I can think of multiple Democrats (and some Republicans) who are as worthy of this honor as Liz Cheney is; and second, what good is an award from an organization that’s afraid of standing up for the principles it supposedly supports?

Kennerly says “I hope more people around the country will follow @Liz Cheney’s example and speak out about the threat to our democracy. Time to step up.”

I can think of multiple people who have spoken out against Trump. Some of them aren’t as wealthy and politically connected as Liz Cheney, and many can’t afford a bodyguard. Many also haven’t voted for or supported the majority of Trump’s crappy policies enacted during his Presidency.

She did the right thing as she was sworn to do. So did lots of other people who aren't conservative assholes like her or sworn to defend our constitution and country.

I agree with the decision.

Her job was to uphold the US Constitution, and I’m glad she didn’t go along with Trump when he lied about the election and tried to overthrow our government. But up until that time, she voted in lockstep with Trump.

I tried to see who were previous winners of this award, but couldn’t locate this information.

My choices to win an award would be the Capitol police officers who fought against the insurrectionists on Jan 7, many of our election workers who have risked their own safety to uphold free and fair elections, and media personalities/contributors who speak out against Trump’s discriminatory, inhumane and bad policies that only Benefit Trump, his family/friends and the wealthy.

And Trump doesn’t like her, so two strikes against her.
