Possible genocide committed in Sudan, report says

A genocide may have been committed in the West Darfur city of El Geneina in one of the worst atrocities of the year-long Sudanese civil war, according to a report released by Human Rights Watch (HRW).

It says ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity have been committed against ethnic Massalit and non-Arab communities in the city by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and its Arab allies.
...
About 15,000 people are feared to have been killed in El Geneina last year.

The HRW report documents evidence of a systematic campaign last year by the RSF and allied militias to remove Massalit residents from El Geneina.
...
At least "thousands of people" were killed and "hundreds of thousands" left as refugees between April and November 2023, the 218-page report said.

Young Sudanese Women Lead D.C.’s First Sudanese Protest of 2024, Offer Hope for ‘New Sudan’

“The last 10 months have just been continuous grief. This was an effort to reset and say ‘I want to try in my capacity and create space for the community,’ because that’s where collective suffering creates avenues for community, growth and healing,” said Wafa May Elamin, one of the lead organizers.

Over the weekend, protesters gathered at the White House in Washington D.C. to voice their concern over the conflict in Sudan and the lack of democratic participation in the country. VOA's Anthony LaBruto spoke to some protesters in attendance.

HRW does great work and they won't let up.

20 years ago. The UN does not give a shit about what happens to black Africa. They just don't. They didn't care about Sudan back in the day, Rwanda, etc. etc. Hell - they don't even care about black people in America.

Operation Turquoise. I mean - it wasn't effective . . . Romeo Dallaire did the best he could with what he was given and remains a hero to me to this day for his efforts. That man's eyes are haunted.

So - I completely disagree with you on this. Here's another point of reference for your consideration: https://dppa.un.org/en/elections.

When you have had to interact with them as I have - you just know these things.

Perhaps the point of disagreement is that your definition of a Domestic Dispute differs from mine?

I've had one eye sideways at the UN since 1994 - and at 51 years of age? I'm not changing my position on it. We may just have to agree to disagree.

or working with universities associated with them. So, not much point in protesting - unless you reckon the RSF is basing its actions on what it hears is happening on US campuses ...

We can quibble over terms all day.

Simply raising awareness of an issue and demanding the US use its influence, whether directly or through the UN, has been done for various human rights issues.

Yet when we hear of ongoing genocide, it seems only immigrants and refugees from the country show up, unless...

When "Zionists" are not involved. In those cases, it takes long investigation rather than a simple proclamation
